I've been fully focused on the precedent of beating Arsenal to a player but I've gotta say looking at the clips, fuck me this guy does look a player, the way he tackles and then his awareness of whats around him to cooly get the ball out of harms way is excellent, he looks in total control, He doesn't look like a young player where accidents are waiting to happen whilst he's learnt, he looks well assured. If i'm honest I believe Arsenal have the first mover advantage but I'd love us to get this guy.

Reflecting on this the following morning, if it's looking like Alderweireld could see out the remaining year of his deal at Spurs then having one of France's most highly-rated young defenders secured to join next summer does make sense. Vertonghen's deal is also up next summer.
My ideal scenario tbf. I think financially letting toby go and getting Saliba for 2 mill difference would make more sense.
