Am I the only person reading this as a pretty desperate 'come and get me' plea from Eriksen to Real?

He says they've not contacted us yet over him and i'd imagine that's because they don't actually want him.

Your brother doesnt know who levy is if he thinks hes allowing a prized asset to run down his contract
That’s what I was thinking. The only thing would be if CE does what he did at Ajax - sign a contract that allows his current club to get a fee when he moves on, which is what gave me pause.

Great player and I’ve enjoyed his time at Tottenham but I really feel this might be one of the few times that a player is leaving at the right time for both parties.

I dont want a player who is half committed to the cause, when he signed his first contract there was talk of it impacting his performances, we've been debating his performances for the last 6 months and I dont like that this looks to have clouded his mind espcially compared to the last season modric put in.

Hell of a player but im looking forward to the lo celso era.

Can't hold any grudges towards him. He was always going to move on. Hopefully we get a deal done quickly.

We'll miss him of course, especially at the beginning but it's all about getting a quality replacement in now.

I love Eriksen as a player and he's been our most influential player in terms of attacking play as a unit.

He has buckets of respect for the Club and you have to wish him well if he leaves.

But no matter what the stats say, he's been off it this season, and even a 10% drop becomes very evident and affects our attacking efficiency as a unit. As I said our most influential player.

And for that reason, if he's constantly thinking of leaving we should permit, providing the financials satisfy everyone.

We can't rely on our most influential player not playing with full commitment.

No doubt we'll secure the Betis guy before allowing Eriksen to leave.

But it's a good thing considering his state of mind, absolutely.

Get the money we need. Not going to any rival clubs. Then I am grateful for his contribution and wish him all the best

All the best to him and I hope he gets the move he wants. Think this is best for everyone, in fact I think you can even see in his football for us that his head isn't all the way there.

Strange to feel so content with such a player wanting to leave us but I just think it could benefit both parties in this case to part ways.

Totally agree. We want full commitment from everyone, especially our most influential players.

Also, while it comes across as respectful he leaves us on the brink of possibly doing something special.

A new Challenge?

Warmer weather and less of a shift if you ask me, and no, I'm not bothered if that offends people.

Less of a shift?! Eriksen was always one of our hardest working players who regularly clocked up the furthest distance covered in a match. I really don't think it bothers him, he's clearly fit enough to cope with it.

If he goes he goes. They'll all go at some point. But its about getting it done quickly, and getting the right replacement in asap.
If that happens, and he goes abroad somewhere, then he goes with my blessing and good wishes. He's been great for us, and been here long enough to say he's been a good servant to the club.
If it gets drawn out all summer, its not gonna be good for anyone.

We all knew it was coming.

Thanks for the memories Christian. Good luck.

I am absolutely fine with him leaving to Barca or Real when we can get significant replacements sorted like Lo Celso AND NDombele.

Eriksen has been great for us and even if he had a really average season he still managed to get lots of assists and some goals.

I don’t think we should fixate too much on the amount of surgery we need being exacerbated by Eriksen leaving. In summer 2004 Mourinho joined Chelsea and signed 9 players, 6 of whom went straight into the first team in Ferreira, Drogba, Robben, Cech, Tiago and Carvalho. Additionally, while it turned out that all of those six were top class, none was actually considered ‘one of the worlds best’ at the time of signing. With both money and scouting you can do a full squad refresh.

Eg: if Eriksen leaves, and Toby leaves, and we want to improve at least one CM and at RB, that’s four first teamers. Assuming that, first team wise, we are happy with Lloris, Rose, Vertonghen, Sissoko, Son, Dele, Kane then it really isn’t the daunting task it seems on the surface IF we get it right.

Then, the squad is the squad. Aurier, Wanyama, Lamela, Llorente, Janssen, we need to try to improve on the majority of these but there’s also players like Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Foyth, Davies, Winks, Dier and Lucas who are a very strong collection of alternatives.

8 players, roughly half of which will be ready made and the rest will be more ‘developmeny’ (Eg Sessegnon or Clarke) is not that major surgery. Arnesen brought in almost an entire first squad in one summer.

It'll actually be quite nice, to lose one of our better players with no ill will.
To not feel too gutted that he's leaving, or feeling like we've been shafted.
He came to us cheap, he's served us well and hopefully, will be leaving for a reasonable wedge.
Good timing for all concerned and no hard feelings.

He mentally prepared us for months that he was going, nice of him to do that!

It does feel like a sign of how far we've come as a club. Even down to the fact he's leaving the door open. It's new ground and I like it.
