At this stage, if Napoli offered a one-legged man, a couple of out of date Tracker bars, and a signed photo of Richard Madeley for Trippier I'd bite their hand off.

I know this is the transfer wish list but keep some sense!

One Tracker bar should do it (y)

No way do we get a signed photo of Madeley ahead of Citeh or Yanited! We don’t have that sort of pulling power.

Can someone tell me why Diawara is apparently so good? He's started 11 games this season. I get that Sarri supposedly underused him, but he isn't Napoli's manager anymore.

Well, this one time, in the Champions League, he played well against Real Madrid.

He was also one of the standout midfielders in Serie A as an 18 year old which earned him his move to Napoli in the first place. He's been out with an injury for the past two months (though to be fair wasn't being selected by Ancelotti on a regular basis leading up to that).

He's still highly rated by Napoli supporters and has the exact attributes we should be looking for in a No. 6. He's strong and athletic enough to be able to shield the back line but is also technically proficient. He's a player in the mould of Fernandinho, Fabinho, etc. -- a ball-winner who also keeps play ticking over. I'm not saying he's on their level but he's only 21. We've consistently scouted him for multiple seasons so we've done our due diligence, if we're in for him it's because Poch rates him.

The comment was made in jest. I actually think he'd be a shrewd signing, especially if it meant Trippier going the other way. Win-win for me.

To add to JayB's answer, Napoli have a huge overload of quality midfielders. They lost Jorginho and it made no difference to them. They have Allen and Zielinski playing most of the time but also have Ruiz and one other who I can't remember.

I'm not convinced Toby will go, the release clause is apparently £25m and he'll want £150k a week which means somebody shelling out around £50m over 3 years with no sell on value. I've no idea about his relationship with the club/Poch but I think his options will be very narrow.

Yanited will be desperate to stitch their defence up and they have sniffed around Toby before.

Lloris is the only one that counts, and he's a keeper. His influence over the field players is limited.
Llorente played 30 minutes in a group game in the WC Spain won
The other players you mentioned won things in a tin pot league, with the exception of Lucas and Aurier, but they weren't really important.
Sorry but I don't think any of those players is an experience winner like Bale. With experienced winner I mean someone who had an important role in winning those things and know what it takes. Bale scored in 2 of the CL finals. That is what I mean. It's about personality, not being in a squad that won a title. And imo, that is something we are missing.

Bale also importantly got the crucial goals in those finals. The difference maker. I remember it being won and Ronaldo getting the headlines for his last minute irrelevant penalty. Though the more recent one that couldn't happen.

If the club only try for one player at the time with no backup we need to seriously look at how we do business

I think it’s more of a case of our backups were no longer available by the time De Jong had made his decision to stay in Ajax which in all fairness he is allowed to do the dirty little Barca whore.

But yes, the fact that we put ourselves in a situation where we couldn’t get anyone over the line because we took too long on De Jong was one of the reasons why a lot of people are concerned about the window coming up.
