I can remember Sugar moaning about the cost of signing Sir Les and Ginola. Fair enough, the 90s weren't the best period all told although Ginola seems to look back fondly on his sojourn at the club.Actually contradicts himself. Says he never wanted to leave and only left because NUFC wanted the money, then turned down the chance to stay after Shearer broke his ankle.....
Yes we were a bit of a mess when he joined. So you should've stayed when you had the chance Leslie.
What a shyte article, and he is hardly going to say that he couldn't wait to get out and back to London to a Newcastle fanzine is he
Their old legs couldn't carry them through the full 90 minutes anymore, and I remember the team collapsing against ManU in 2001, losing 3 - 5 having been 3 - 0 up. I have to say that was one of the most embarrassing moments as a Spurs fan. (Admittedly, there have been several others over the years...)Ferdinand seems like a nice enough guy, and he was a very good striker when he was at his peak. But it was the kind of signing that encapsulated a lot of what was wrong about us during the 90s/early 00s. Investing in big name players, players who had achieved great things at other clubs but were now past their prime. Gus Poyet, Jamie Redknapp, Tim Sherwood and Teddy Sheringham (the second time round) are other names that spring to mind.
Fuck him, i still blame him for our defeat to Blackburn in Cardiff.
It was terrible... outdone by a 3-4 loss to Man City in the cup over 2 years later...Their old legs couldn't carry them through the full 90 minutes anymore, and I remember the team collapsing against ManU in 2001, losing 3 - 5 having been 3 - 0 up. I have to say that was one of the most embarrassing moments as a Spurs fan. (Admittedly, there have been several others over the years...)
What's the betting that Sky use footage from that match in the run up to Sunday's game?
