If he gets crooked again playing in meaningless friendly then I guess that’s that.
And if he won’t sign the contract, Poch ain’t letting him anywhere near that 1st team.
That sends the wrong message to the group.
Either you are committed or you are not.
That seems to be one of Poch’s values and is doesn’t matter who you are.
The collective trumps the individual.
Same thing happened with Walker last year, near the end of the season he hardly played and then he was sold.
Sad, but truth be told, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Yep. Love Toby, but we've done quite well without him.Course he's fit, he was on the bench last match against Swansea. Everything else is speculation, spin, or bullshit.
We've learnt nothing new about his contract situation. He'll probably leave in summer but life will go on.
Foyth will be a lot bigger over the next two years and Sanchez will get better on the ball.I wish Toby would realise that the money he'd make with us is still a handsome sum & success would be achieved with a group that has grown well together.
Hopefully we get a tidy sum for him & take a closer look at Stefan De Vrij, who is supposed to be leaving on a free at the end of the season. SDV is a big, powerful centre-back who is also comfortable with the ball at his feet.
I wouldn’t describe him as ‘fully fit’ - not only is he short of ‘match fitness’, he suffered a niggle on his return.
Regardless of his contract situation, Poch has a history of easing players back in after nasty injuries. Wanyama is an identical situation and no one’s querying his future; it’s purely putting 2+2 together.
Also Sanchez has done tremendously well and frankly doesn’t deserve to be dropped just because Toby’s not injured (I’m not using the word ‘fit’ because he’s not!).
He could easily play 90 mins in a friendly but if I were Martinez i’d just be a bit cautious.
But it was Vertonghen, Sanchez and Toby, all playing together when they were all fit, so the person to lose out would be from up top from either Alli, Son or Eriksen.
So the fact that Toby doesn’t start isn’t the end of the world right now, we are solid at the back and who in their right mind would advocate dropping Sonny or Eriksen.
Maybe Alli, at a push, but even his game is improving too.
I think this is he point. We are far more effective with the 4 attacking players than the 3 and the extra centre back. So the question is do you drop Son/Alli or Toby?
Come on now, Toby is much better and experienced than Sanchez.
Either Toby is pulling out a Walker or Pochetino doesn't feel he's fit enough. Otherwize, it doesn't make any sense to have him seating instead of Sanchez.

And he's raring to go
Sanchez is only gonna get better, and the few times Toby did feature after his injury, there was nothing to write home about, chiefly Rochdale's second goal - and we're talking about a League 1 relegaton struggler.Come on now, Toby is much better and experienced than Sanchez.
