Certainly not AustinThen we should probably get rid and have one of the youth like Whiteman or Austin take over as #3.

I’m certainly qualified to talk on his abilities, so no knee-jerk. He is max 25-30m player, based on what he has achieved. No way 60m, and I wouldn’t spend that in him neither. I would love him here, but not at a ridiculous price.
Just read LB of Augsburg, Philipp Max broke the all time ast record by Lahm (11) with 12, just in league play of course.
Anyone know much about him? Only 23.
I agree with you. Presuming your inferred professional level opinion, do you see him ending up as a striker, winger/wf or a left back? Whilst I also think he's overrated, I don't think he has that defender vibe about him, and whilst decent in many aspects of play I don't think he has the nous to excel top level as a wide forward player either. The one thing he does look like having real potential is movement, finding space, finishing and being in the right place at the right time. Where do you see him?
It’s it’s a good question but I don’t think it’s final.
Big teams have competition look at man city - no one says “don’t sign Sané because sterling will be unhappy”. They say - “look what strength in depth they have”.
If sterling wants to play he will bust a gut in training and compete. Same with Sané who comes knowing there’s competition for places but that the seasons long. As poch says - footballers get paid to train not to play matches.
Ensuring players play to their limit is an important reason to bring in quality - particularly in the forward positions where consistency is less important (like the gk - cb pairing combo). This is amplified for young players who are rapidly improving and someone like Alli will benefit greatly from the competition.
I’d also add that playing Son up front as cover for Kane and shifting Llorente would be a welcome move.
This upcoming window feels very curious to me. Hardly any moves I feel we "need" to do but a lot of moves it feels like we could end up doing based on how contract situations and player satisfaction moods roll. Things like settling on a #2 if Vorm leaves and what if Toby or Rose leave, etc.
So it seems sess is off the cards then !
We differ from those sides as we won’t pay players 100k pw to be squad players.
Poch has a difficult balancing act keeping the squad harmonious as its one of our strengths. Too many players and it quite quickly cliques can start forming, players start getting disgruntled and we have a problem on our hands. Players such as Winks, Toby and Llorente are already struggling to get in the match day squad. Adding to this could be a negative
To be fair Toby and Winks have had injury problems and Llorente hasn't really had the impact we all thought he'd have so Poch can't really trust them at the moment.
I think squad harmony and the drive to improve those player could keep them happy, sounds ridiculous I know but since Poch has been here I haven't heard many players moan about lack of game time if it's deserved.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...m-contract-amadou-haidara-salzburg-exclusive/amadou haidara is a very interesting player. 20 year old cm for rb salzburg, similar style of player to naby keita. i imagine he'll end up at leipzig but he might be someone we're keeping an eye on.
I can see him developing as a wing back, but absolute buckets of work to become s top one. In the EPL, and European top leagues he will not have the time he has now, in the spaces etc. There is raw potential, but not at the ridiculous figures his club wants. And again, he coujd of signed the contract he did, but on his terms, including a set clause, at a set price etc.
I’m somewhat torn on this, on the one hand we know Poch could get him feeling motivated and confidentI’d definitely go for like Shaw, really fits the mound of what has succeeded with us and already loves our manager. When Utd signed him he was a certainty for this summer’s World Cup, probably as first choice, now pretty much completely thanks to Mourinho that’s definitely not going to happen.
Pochettino would be getting a young, hungry left back with bags of ability, a lot to prove, who has far more going for him than Rose did at the same age, and one who he’s worked with very successfully before.

I don't know why we'd want to sign a left-back who is considered surplus to requirements to an immediate rival, is comfortably inferior to our current options, and is unfit.
