He has not even had a full season with us.. Yet his efforts and tries to wanna succeed are already chuffed upon as flop by some in this forum (not just this thread)..

He will deliver, given some time, patience and level-headed expectations..

he's a bit of a dead investment if he really does have to do national service in a few years time.
Yeah it's such a shame SK didn't get even bronze. Really thought they had a shot at getting something. Now I don't really know what we can do to stop his service. I guess we have to hope something can be worked out to delay it but ether way, as you say, not great for us or him.

I may offend a few, but I don't see what he adds. He's no game changer, he lacks pace and power and appears too light weight and surrenders possession far too easily.
I'm worried that many are expecting miracles from his return, when in reality he'll offer very little.

Look, I could be wrong, and hope I am, but I'm far from convinced he's our saviour.

He has to win a medal at the Asian games but that isn't until 2018

Son has to complete military service before he turns 30, he is 23 right now. He can defer military service past 30 if he declares residency . We have him on a 5 year contract, five years of living in the UK means he is eligible for a permanent UK residency card.

He has to start national service before he turns 28

Park Chu Young got residency for Monaco and as a result there was big backlash towards him, so getting residency may not be an option and he may hurt his chances in the South Korean national team

The other option is that he win an medal at the asian games in the next 2 years.

Think there is premature rejectulation towards Son.

Though the looming national service is an issue.

Sangmoon Bae the golfer lost his court case to get military service deferred he was age 29. LYP was given an exemption after SK qualified for the world cup semis. He can get an unlimited German residency permit as well I think as he lived in Germany for 7 years. Yeah Park got a backlash and he apologised, I'm sure Son knows what he is getting himself into.

He had a disastrous performance against Honduras, including spurning several clear cut chances to score, and carelessly passing the ball to a Hoduran player that sprung a counter-attack and the lone goal in a game Korea should have won easily. Son's reaction after the match was a bit surprising, too. He went after all of the officials and had to be restrained by teammates for the lack of added time, and then proceeded to collapse to the ground and was inconsolable for a very long period of time before four members of the SK staff helped led him off the pitch.

Poch is going to have to do a major job with him, as I fear the Olympic failure, which caused quite a bit of criticism towards him, and looming military service, will be on his mind for a while. I also think he's got to adapt his game if he wants to make it past this season at Spurs. I've followed him since he was at Hamburg and his lack of incisive passing in the final third for an attacking midfielder has always been his weak point. His biggest attribute is his two-footed ball striking, but in England, he doesn't get any space to tee up the ball the way he wants.

Overall, if he's our primary cover for Kane, Eriksen, and Alli, he's going to have to change course quickly, because I fear he is regressing as a player right now.

I've got nothing personal against the guy and I do want him to succeed. However he strikes me more as a Siggurdson or Dempsey type player. A goal scoring AM. He's not a dribbler, not a technical player, nor a creator/passer, this narrow skill set isn't enough for what the way we are set up. He would do good in a team where he won't have to contribute much and can be the focal point but like Gylfi and Clint , unfortunately I think you need to offer a lot more to play in our AM3 against smaller teams who won't give you the space.

I think he's a good player an option off the bench and rotation. I really think we'll see a totally different player this year once he's integrated back.

Trying to postpone military service in South Korea is a big no-no. The ramifications of even attempting to would be quite severe as Koreans take military service very seriously as it is also seen with huge national pride to serve in the military.
