While new players joining is exciting, I'm quite relieved at this. I much prefer adding one or two better players to a settled squad that wholesale change every season. Hopefully this summer will see us with a squad that challenges for (whisper it) the league and we just augment it thereafter.

Generally speaking, I'm all for evolution rather than revolution.

I understand that Ronaldo has a reputation for being a bit of a primadonna off the pitch, but I gotta say, if what Jacob says is true, I don't blame him one bit for being pissed.

If I played for any team and this kind of deal was floated, I'd be livid. 100m is ridiculous for any player, and its a no win situation for the team. If Bale excels, everyone will say "well he'd better, at that price" and if he doesn't, RM will get roasted for a bad transfer and Bale will get eviscerated by the press.

Aw you're new. How sweet. I was in this site for several years before my first itk summer, I'd been a front pager until then. It was the summer we sold Berbatov. That summer killed me and to be honest, I've never allowed myself to be roped back in since, I just can't let those barriers down again. The scars still feel fresh

I wonder what Jacob meant by this tweet a year ago when we missed out on Moutinho... can someone clear it up?

major major cock-ups this TW re: moutinho. no doubt daniel (potl) will be trying to shift the blame on coys.

Anyway, looks like an excellent ITK like others have said.

Unless AVB gets poached by a richer club next summer. If he's here for the long term then allowing him to shape the squad is great, but if not, the next manager is going to want to re-build.

When replying to 'sounds like he's staying' he followed up with:

I wouldn't go that far. I do know that if he does stay he will remain professional. Very keen not to tarnish his nice guy image.

I don't mind having too much movement as well as we continue to improve, look at Barcelona they usually only bring in one or two players every summer and they seem to get along alright, plus all these rumors of outgoings and in comings is a bit stressful (especially for the ITKs, who've had to put up with a lot of abuse this summer)

This is old news.

It looked like we had Moutinho, lunchtime: JJ said something like 'welcome... Joao Moutinho' so everyone went mental it was widely reported we had agreed a fee and a few others were confident but all the while he was on a plane with Porto off to a match, Pini Zahavi was sitting in Spurs Lodge like Dracula in a blood bank and nothing was getting done until super late when it seemed like we might be able to get some registration docs though after the deadline, but it failed.

Supposedly, multiple owners contributed to goalposts being moved etc. Some thought we were posturing and Levy didn't actually want to spend others figured it was just a nightmare of a deal.

Who's fault? Who knows but it was a clusterfuck all round.

I have watched all of RM's friendlies over here in the States and there is no doubt Ronaldo has been playing with a chip on his shoulders based off his stellar play and body language in these games. It's almost as if he is trying to send the message, I am the f'n man at this club and nobody will take that from me.

Quite frankly, Bale is not on Ronaldo's level yet in ability and miles apart in global appeal. Ronaldo is a rock star over here in the States, my mother who has never watched a game of footie in her life would recognize him on the street. I think I would be pissed too if I was Ronaldo and my team bought Bale for the amounts thrown out there.

Cheers but I know that story, I was wondering about the second half. Daniel (POTL)? Shifting blame on COYS?

Barcelona can only get away with 1 or 2 transfers each summer because of their absolutely immense youth system. We're trying, but unfortunately we're a way off as it stands.
