I though it referred to Toby Alderwield(sp)
I took it to mean Alderweireld, as well. I don't know why so many people seem to think he's not good enough for us. The guy isn't as good as Vertonghen, but he's better than anything we have at the moment. He can also play right-back in a pinch, and he would settle quickly with the three Belgians already here.
I'd like to think Adil Rami would be one of the 7 we are supposedly looking at. We must have some kind of relationship with Valencia now, and he apparently would cost the same as Caulker. We could do worse than swapping Caulker for a starter for the French National Team, which would help with Lloris in goal.
So much work left to be done still. Really hope we can get an upgrade at left-back.
I worry about the Bale saga though. This thing cannot be allowed to drag on past the next few days. We are asking for major problems if he is sold more than a week from now. The number of players we could bring in to upgrade the squad at his position are few. With Ljacic apparently only wanting a move to Milan, Reus/Draxler not being possibilities, Lamela is our only prospect. What happens if Roma doesn't want to sell that late? We'd be completely fucked.

Annoying that the defensive crisis has taken our focus off looking for quality attacking options.
I'm sure the Bale situation isn't making things easier either.
Defence has to be the focus this week though, hoping for one in at least by Espanyol

They are gonna have to work 24/7 to get all the ins and outs done that we need to be ready for kick-off day one. To be fair, there has probably been a frenzy of activity on that end for a few days now, I would imagine.

If the Kaboul setback that LLM alluded to is right, we can't rely on him at all anymore. We're just going to have to settle for the odd run of games he gets and simply rely heavily on others. It's so unfortunate because he and Jan together sounds so fantastic.
But, with Jan and Dawson already injured, Kaboul already oft-injured, it's a scary proposition even if we add 2 CBs now.

Nothing revolutionary but considering the wide varying info we've had i'll happily hang my hat and concur with all of what he just said:
a few bits
tomorrows telegraph only paper to get anything close to reality re bale situation, that bid was given a go f**k yourself response, barnett,zidane,perez media witchhunt aint gone down well with dl at all
sandro hopes to get 20mins re espanyol,yk is further off,soldado medical was today and yest, paulinio only had 5 days training thus didnt travel today.
not rocket science to realise caulks and dempsey only the beginning of exodus another 6-8 to go

I imagine 6-8 to go is about right (bae, naughton, parker, hudd, livermore, carrol (loan), bale, defoe/ade).
They are players that needed upgrading anyway other than bale but as a minimum we would need; left back, 2 x centre backs, creative midfielder, winger and forward.
Its gonna be busy.
