No, I've always stated that Levy does the deals if they make financial sense. But it's following exactly the same pattern as the other clubs he ruined, putting pressure on the chairman through the media to spend and bring in his fat cat mates. Levy seems to have always resisted but Friedel signing is making me doubt that now and the real killer will be if we buy Joe Cole.
I'd take being an almost ran rather than the next Portsmouth. With the FFP rules coming into play and with no new stadium to gain more revenue we could end up becoming one these clubs that spends it's entire turnover on wages. It needs to be stopped, 35 first team players on the books and Harry wants more - loan 10 out and bring in more, out of sight and out of mind.
All the clubs that Redknapp so called ruined where badly run only his second stint at Portsmouth do you have even a slight case that Redknapp might have had something to do with it. Redknapp like every other manager has no power over the purse. The Friedel signing probably will save us money, you don't know what kind of wages he is on, but we didn't pay a transfer fee, and even if Gomes stays we needed another goalkeeper. Joe Cole will not be signed but even if he was he would come in and Bentley and Kranjcar will leave. Even presuming he got payed the same wage as both the two together you would still be making a profit.
