Care was the wrong word, but i think they would back themselves to cause more damage than we would cause... they would back their central defenders and Henderson et al to make up for any defence on the wings and cover off any danger from our forwards and Son/Lucas...

The two wingers and the front three - is just so dangerous...

I agree it will be cat and mouse... it will be a PL tie, it could very well be a Man City v Spurs kinda game... the thing is we lost that game.

Their central defenders can't really make up for us nullifying their WB threat going forward. Matip may have the odd driving run from defence just like Vertonghen will. Their CBs will be threats at set pieces regardless, which will be a separate headache for our defence.

I actually think we can really expose their defence with the options we have now....meaning fit available options!

Im more of the Harry Redknapp mould - play all our attackers except Lamela and Llorente, go out there press the fuck out of them, attack the shit out of them... score goals... win the game

That's certainly a line up Liverpool would love to see. They'd cut that midfield to ribbons.

Tactically astute...me? No, mate. We're all assholes with our own opinions and with no clue what the line up will be. Still fun though while we're waiting for Saturday to take its slow-ass time to arrive!

At Anfield when we switched to 5 in midfield with the wings covered, everything changed and we dominated from that point forward. I think we'll line up like that again.

But Klopp would be thinking that perhaps and preparing his team for that - so we may well need something different...

Sissoko is a must to play so I think it all depends on whether we play Winks because if we do then 4141 doesnt really come into it... like i say it will be a really interesting selection whichever Poch chooses and think he will be well prepared for it.

Tend to agree to be honest. If Kane is fit he’s very likely to start as he’s our best player so why not so the big Q is the 2nd midfield spot, do you drop alli or Eriksen back there and sissoko even deeper or do you actually drop one of son dele Lucas Kane and play a winks or Wanyama or dier(hopefully not dier!)

This is where poch will earn his money.

If he plays 5-3-2 I’ll walk out the stadium and be getting an early flight back home ?, but no I think 4-2-3-1 is the way to go or 4-4-2 narrow diamond but I think let’s be ballsy and play the team you’ve put above and really go at them, if we let them dominate us we will struggle but if we play son and Lucas either side of Kane, with dele behind him and Eriksen creating from deep we could cause them all sorts of problems.

Also for me I prefer Aurier over Trippier especially against the pace of Mane but is Aurier fit enough to play and does Poch trust Trippier more? At least if it’s trippier then I expect sissoko to cover him a lot which he does excellently.

Was that a 4-2-3-1 or more of a 4-1-4-1? I think 4-1-4-1 could work really well against them as the wide men will push their full backs back if not then we will have all the space in the world to counter their 2 cb’s and 1 CDM like sissoko did against VVD, we just need that to be Kane or Eriksen in that position not sissoko.

We would defend by having a huge counter attack threat and by hopefully dominating the ball like we did 2nd half at anfield where we deserved to beat them.

Agree with both of you that RB is a potential weak link. The positive, hopefully, is that Trips has had a good rest and a chance to recharge his batteries, and get over niggling injuries. Injuries to Aurier and KWP's inexperience haven't allowed for sorely-needed rotation at that position, and Trips has been overused, and as a result, his form and actual fitness have suffered.

One of Poch's options to combat that threat is to occupy Robertson as much as possible on their left flank. Robertson will have his hands full with defensive duties with either Son or Moura on his flank, but Moura is better than Son imo with his defensive awareness in pressing, closing down space, harrying players and chasing down threats. All our attackers, just like theirs, will have both offensive and defensive responsibilities.

There's a lot to consider for Poch. Thankfully, we're in a better position fitness-wise to give him that selection headache! Still goes back to Kane and Winks physical fitness for me. Not so worried about game fitness, as three plus weeks without games will affect everyone. Seems, from the reports, that Winks is good to go. That's CM sorted with Sissoko and Winks.

Eriksen plays for his creativity, and Alli plays because he's our most versatile player. He provides us an attacking threat, is a defensive buffer when he has to be, slots into CM/AM roles seamlessly because of his game awareness. Alli also gives us that grittiness and toughness we'll need against opponents that will try and intimidate to gain any advantage they can.

It leaves our front 3...Kane/Son/Moura. They're all proven, devastating attackers. We can only choose two to start. But, the game will be 90 or 120 minutes long, with also the chance of penalties. All three will get game time, either to start or as a key sub.

If Kane is 90%, he starts. That leaves Son or Moura. There really ain't much to choose between them on the attacking front. But, think Moura is more keyed-in defensively, and Klopp's Liverpool always start on the front foot.

We've actually been fortunate that they didn't convert their chances early in the last couple of games against us. We still lost them both, but we are their equal. They actually swamped us early doors but couldn't score before we woke up and asserted our own game. We can't let that happen in the final.

Their key threats come down their flanks. Think Rose can handle TAA, Trips needs help with Robertson. Tire that fucker out from the start with someone that has even more of an engine and desire than he has, Moura!

Imo, if Kane's fit, Sonny's the impact sub.

Son is defensively much stronger than any of our attacking players let alone Moura. I know some still haven't recovered from that FA cup semi final but Poch has sort of played Son as LWB several times this season already without many people noticing.... Please watch the second leg against City game, especially the second half, or the second leg against Dortmund. In the City game he played as both second LB and RB covering both Rose and Trippier. I think we will see him play on the wing in the final for this very reason. Their fullbacks are something else.

That's our strongest attacking line up and what I think we should go for. But it leaves us light in the middle. However, our best performances this season have been attacking ones and in this match our most important job is to stop their full backs. So I think this is the best formation to play to our strengths and at the same nullify theirs.

I think we only once started with all Son, Lucas and Kane at front. And honestly I don't believe Mauricio will do this again in such a important game. He will want to go with proven setup. But on the other hand it would be sooooo hard to put Lucas on the bench after semi final hattrick. Also, we all know that if Son is fit he starts. Eriksen and Alli are undropable IMHO. I'm very curious how Poch will figure this out. Of course, if Kane won't start it's no brainer. But lots of signs that he will. My prediction:
