I mean, I doubt they locked the fans in the stadium! And they're playing a 10 a-side game. Don't see the harm.

Never said there was any harm. Merely disagreeing with the idea that them putting on a training session is "better than nothing" because, personally, I couldnt give a fuck about a training session, especially in those incredibly forced and awkward circumstances, so to me it would be tantamount to nothing cos I'd have left either way

Like I said, I'm a grumpy bastard though :bag:

As far as Im aware other FA's told their players to go until clubs stepped in whereas Argentinian FA told everyone if they dont go this will be held against them in the World Cup

The Copa America squad is all there

Where are you getting that from?
I haven't read anything like it here, and the media loves a good scandal so they would def picked that rumour if it was the case.

Like I said in another post, the picture in the plane does not look as people being held against their will.
On top of that, Martinez was the star of the last Copa America. You are gonna tell me that if he didn't go to this WC quailfiers he wouldn't have gone to the WC? The same goes for Romero. He's the next big thing in a defense that has not been very good the past years

I think it was Ally Gold maybe someone else basically said this may be held against in the World Cup bear in mind there is only a year left

@Shadydan You don't think the it's a problem for Spurs that Argentinian FA told their players it would be held against them if they missed qualifiers? Strange as it directly led to those players travelling for said qualifiers.

Nope, if they defy out orders they should be punished quite frankly. The players have to take some responsibility - that's their problem of they miss out on playing for their NT not ours.

The four players in question are all public figures, why were they allowed in the country?

my guess is that the Brazilian authorities wanted to make an example out of this situation. It’s not like they didn’t know that four players plays in the UK

The fact that two first team players are literally missing games for us does in fact make it a problem for us. The hows, whys, and what ifs are irrelevant. They are not available for selection , so it is a problem for Tottenham Hotspur.

Also, no idea how you've settled on the idea that they defied our orders. Every source I've seen says that we reached a compromise.

lol You've missed the entire context of the conversation, OBVIOUSLY it's our problem because they're our players but it's not our problem if the players kick off, that was my point.

Also I have no idea why you think I was speaking in past tense, I was talking about going forward if they defy orders, again you would have realised that if you attempted to read and comprehend what I was saying...

Funny you say that because I've had the opposite impression. Basically every report I've seen has said they didn't have permission and will face disciplinary action when they get back.

Have the club the right to impose disciplinary action on Lo Celso, Romero and Sanchez , technically they have followed FIFA guidelines , been called up by their national associations and turned out for their national teams . Wouldn't be surprised that if fined they could appeal to CAS and state they were following FIFA rules which overides local FA's and clubs and win their case. La Liga have already tried taking FIFA to CAS over the S. American qualifiers and lost.

You were literally replying to a poster who was talking about this incident, you know, the one that happened in the recent past. If you want to be understood, try being clearer with what you say. ?‍♂️

I literally put this in the original post:

I think now going forward of this shit show isn't sorted then we have every right to hold them back purely for safety reasons.
How fucking clear do you want me to be? Not being funny but do you have genuine reading and comprehension problems?

I think you know what you did here and you've been basically pining for an argument for some reason by being super pedantic, you should have taken the wtf rating in good grace, that's the politest I can be to you.

Don't bother embarrassing yourself any furher it's not worth it...

Bore off. You referenced what's happening and then what you think should happen in the future. Done here.

If only someone had mentioned the possibility in the hiring process...
His brother hired him! He is a below average to average MLS coach. Not an international manager. The team won despite him this summer. Especially Nations League. He's gotta go. And now qualifying looks iffy again when we really should be making the knock outs with this squad. Predictable though.

Jesse Marsch(American ex-Salzburg current Leipzig manager) has his say???

I think you must've just missed it mate I read a couple of articles saying that back when it first became apparent that they were going. Then again, it was presumably just the rags speculating back then.

Doesn't really matter either way I suppose. What's done is done now. Will be interesting to see what happens come the next break.

Yeah, quite possible. All I saw was the club saying good luck etc. and that the Croatia compromise had been made. It will definitely be very interesting to see what happens next month.

Nice goal for the Netherlands' 2nd, Stevie B nearly had a nice assist seconds earlier.
