Will Kaboul play a key role this season?

I am not convinced personally. He is our best centre back but he will take some time to get match fitness and AVB likes to ease players into the team. There may not be enough games for Kaboul to re-establish himself.

I am sure he will get some minutes but I reckon we will only see him back to being a key player next season.

I think we should be looking at next season for him, I hope we don't have to rush hi back.

Define key role? Surely thats someone who has a big impact across the season. Seeing as he will only play at max about two and a half months, probably less, its impossible.

If you mean will he regain his spot as first choice, then I would agree with what you say. Reintroduced to the team slowly, maybe a run of the last few games and then back 100% for next season.

i'm a bit worried regarding kaboul, his contract runs out next summer and we never let that happen to key 1st team players.

The timing of his return could be perfect. I'm sure he'll be very important come the last few games, when it comes to the crunch. I can see him netting a header away to Stoke and clinching us CL!

Is he fit now? I thought he was still injured.

Yeah by key role, I mean regaining his first team spot.

I thought he was back in training or is close.

If he could find his timing and touch early after his return, he'll play a big part in the run-in.

From last year:

Younes Kaboul says he is happy at Tottenham" data-scaytid="3">Tottenham but has denied reports he is in negotiations over a new contract.
The Frenchman has been in outstanding form this season and has become a fans' favourite, two years after returning to the club from Portsmouth for a second spell.
Reports had claimed the 26-year-old was already in talks over a new deal but, although the centre-back insists he is happy at White Hart Lane, he has denied those claims and insists he does not know what the future might hold.
He said: "In football you can never tell, like life in general. I have some years left [on my contract]. At the moment I am happy here. In football you never know.
"No, I'm not negotiating a new contract at the moment. My contract runs until 2015."

Apologies for the dislike. I am notorious for mistakenly pressing the wrong button on my phone. I agree but you never know, if Kaboom can show he's got his devastating speed back (especially over 50-70meters) then I would put him back in straight away, he's that good IMO.

Kaboul's dominance of the CB position is mainly due to his superior physical qualities. Namely, his pace, strength, and jumping ability. With a serious knee injury, physical qualities like leg strength and knee stability take time to recover. I expect Kaboul to take some time to regain his top form, and we may not see him at his best until next season. I just hope he fully heals before returning, and doesn't re-injure his knee.
