Didn't Fulham pick up £170m for getting promoted.... along with an extra £110m if they stay up next season?? Plus the owners stacked - They have the cash imo.

No, I think the £170m is just a rough estimation of what they'd be guaranteed from a season in the PL if they were relegated by the end of it (prize and TV money plus parachute payments)

Had a little digging and found the original report, interesting that it is so much and spread out.

https://www2.deloitte.com/uk/en/pag...-for-biggest-financial-prize-in-football.html

"As a result, Cardiff City, Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers can expect a minimum revenue uplift of c.£170m over three years if relegated from the Premier League after just one season."

"This figure could rise to in excess of £280m if a club survives their first season in the Premier League."

I thought we were told on more than one occasion that Palace had accepted an offer from both us and Chelsea and it was in the players hands

Looks like that wasn’t the case and most of these itk's were pissing in the wind!

These so called ‘smaller’ clubs are spending what they need to make the next step, it’s a risk worth taking as if the stay up it’s worth a shitload more...if they get relegated & they done things properly they would’ve but relegation clauses in contracts etc.
we need to follow suit & take the risk on that special player...if it doesn’t pay off we have the chance to re-coup that so easily by selling that said player or another one of our top stars.

Max Myer just signed for Palace ... Spending Zaha money??
We've gone over this point about 267 times over the last 10 odd pages. For all we know they could be spending their shirt sleeve sponsor money, selling someone else, or just found money under Parish's mattress they didn't know they had.

Yeah I don't know what happened there but it was obviously given in good faith. Noone is going to deliberately be so specific unless that was the info that they were given.

Alright calm down Rodney. Not everyone has the time to spend 20 minutes reading mostly bullshit before posting for fear of repeating something.

I don't know where this narrative of certain clubs don't have money to spend on transfers - the Premier League clubs have never had more money being pumped into them due to the TV deals etc!

Fulham have spent around £80m this window...

£80m!!...

A newly promoted club!!
I can help you with that:

"At Palace, initial ambitions have been tempered by financial realities as the owners eye both the £100m redevelopment of Selhurst Park’s main stand and a wage bill which has become prohibitive over recent seasons. It had risen 39% to £112m for 2016-17, the ninth largest in the division. The wages to turnover ratio of 78% was the highest in the top-flight. Since those figures were submitted, Mamadou Sakho has been secured from Liverpool, while Zaha signed new and improved terms. "

That's special player simply has to be Zaha or Martial. If we had the chance to pick up Ceballos as well it would be a sensational window regardless of all the pissing about up until now.

I'd be more than happy with Foyth stepping up into Toby's shoes as I really like the kid and I think he's got what it takes to go all the way to Jan's level but with Dembeles legs starting to go and with our attacking options limited should Son or Kane get a knock in their respective positions these have to be the areas we add Champions League level pedigree in. I like Grealish and I'm more than happy for him to come into the squad and play an almost Winks like role to Eriksen this year whilst he cuts his teeth playing billy big bollocks football but we really do need to say fuck it and give Martial/ Zaha and a classy little CM a new home.

Come on Daniel, I thought you were a Spurs fan FFS!

This is it. I totally accept that we have a brilliant starting XI. We do have a lot of games to play this season however and if players get injured or start to tire, I guarantee that people will start complaining that we don't have enough quality back up players to cover all positions.

Whilst we're talking of lazy narratives, I don't get the argument that Liverpool have massively overspent to bring in players this window. Allison at £68m is definitely pricey but the Fabinho and Keita deals really don't look out of place in this market, and if anything they've got Shaqiri on the cheap side. They also seem to be on the verge of getting good money for their own rejects too, which kind of squashes that argument about selling before you buy to maximise value.

Bringing it back to Zaha though, I interpret the ITK as we know the price, but aren't prepared to pay it. I suspect that's probably been the case all summer, and the only way I can see us matching their valuation is if we get desperate on deadline day at which point who knows if they'll accept.
