Local as in in Australia? Newcastle Jets are in the A-League.
Yep local to them as in not the Australian national u15 team but the local teams u15 squad

It's up there with Aston Villa playing their youth team over Christmas and losing 3-0

Yes, because if you're a team of international level players, you're going to take a game against some schoolboys seriously... whether you're Aston Villa or Australia Ladies.

Jesus.

Jesus.

They regularly play schoolboy teams in pre-tournament games due to the lack of other women's teams nearby. They also played many of their first choice players. And they got absolutely slaughtered by the Aussie media for the result.

They do actually take these games seriously and that's why there's an article about it - it's all in there.

Not sure why you think it would be remotely acceptable for an international football side to lose a game 7-0 to some 14 year old boys...

Not really bothered about this personally.

I feel that, as the BBC has effectively lost the battle for mainstream sports, they should concentrate on sports that don't currently have much TV Exposure. For me that would include more gymnastics, not just artistic but acrobatic and aerobic too (not rhythmic as it's (a) shite and (b) sexist) and street luge.

Gymnastics because I appreciate the strength, skill and artistry of the competitors (nothing to do with the young women in tight lycra, not at all, no really) and street luge because it's mental.

Because they don't have many good comedy programmes anymore? I stopped watching when I realised they wouldn't swap shirts at the end.

on the whole female football is not bad if you take it at the level it is. we have one of the best female teams in the world on this sport.

i bet no one criticised kelly holmes when she won the Olympics or any other female that won gold in their respective events. You compete against your peers whatever the sport apart from stuff like show jumping which is unisex.

I commentate for an internet radio station doing grassroots football and the biggest difference in football is the keepers they really do need to improve the standard of keepers in female football, but the rest are not bad.

I really don't care? The standard is awful. Yet they keep reporting on it and give it a platform next to the mens.

Why do the BBC keep shoving Adrian Chiles down our throats. I really don't care. His standard is awful. Yet they keep giving him jobs and giving him a platform next to better presenters.

I feel the same way about John Inverdale really gets my back up when he's on the tennis coverage and one of the main reasons I switch to Eurosport whenever coverage is shared between that & BBC

Hmm....

*remember the "Come on our girls" sign thingie that was posted somewhere... :ROFLMAO:

Anywho... Let them have a chance. There are a few countries with decent women's teams, Germany, US, Brazil etc etc...

It's a sport ️We all love, let's share some of the lime light.
