I think its 50/50 Gomes or Friedel, whoever has been judged to have had the best pre-season will get it.

Personally I would stick with Cudicini, at the end of the season he was the man in possession of the shirt and didnt do much wrong at all. The others can wait there turn to get back in IMO. (I'd also use this argument for Rose starting at Left back, much as I like BAE)

If Gomes starts then what a complete waste of wages Friedel will be. Realistically you have to really analyze what Redknapp is even doing if he plays Gomes after signing Friedel.

Thats not to say i think Friedel is the better keeper because i think we should stick with Gomes but honestly i will be pretty annoyed if Tottenham have signed a 40 year old on a 2 year deal to sit on the bench.

It will be an enormous blow to Gomes status and pride
if he loses out to a 40yr. old keeper
who cocked up in S Africa but doesn't have Gomes ability
to make the match savers that HG often has.

I am slightly miffed (is that a word?) that we sign Friedel while Villa pick up Given, feels to me like we got the worse deal there

I think Given could have provided some quality shot stopping competition for Gomes while Friedel loooks to be past his best from what little I saw of him last term

Gomes for me - I know he makes the odd rickett, (but in all honesty which keeper doesn't) IMHO he is better all round than the other two.

He has saved our bacon on more than one occasion with a spectacular save.
