The media really have it in for Van Der Vaart don't they, heaven help anyone who has a bit of pride and confidence in themselves

But at least we will keep the proven goalscorer Defoe and the popular Crouch

Telegraph Sport examines the likely comings and goings at White Hart Lane this summer in the wake of Tottenham's Champions League exit.

By Jason Burt 6:45AM BST 07 Apr 2011

OUT

Robbie Keane: Spurs are desperate to sell their former captain and have an agreement should West Ham stay up.

Alan Hutton: Full-back has fallen out of favour and club is looking for a replacement.

Roman Pavlyuchenko: Can go if the offer is right and a new striker signed.

David Bentley: Is unlikely to return from loan at Birmingham but fee remains prohibitive.

Niko Kranjcar: Has made no secret of his frustration.

Jamie O’Hara: On loan at Wolves and wants first-team football.

IN THE BALANCE

Jonathan Woodgate: His whole career is in the balance due to injury.

Ledley King: Must be considering retirement due to chronic injuries.

Vedran Corluka: A good squad player but may become surplus is a new full-back is sign and Kyle Walker makes a breakthrough.

Rafael Van der Vaart: Whispers starting that he may not have a future at Spurs.

Wilson Palacios: May stay as difficult for club to recoup transfer fee.

Jermaine Jenas: Appears consigned to being a squad player.

GOING NOWHERE

Heurelho Gomes: Established first-choice goalkeeper.

Michael Dawson: Captain and heart of defence.

Luka Modric: Could go only if a huge transfer fee is paid.

Gareth Bale: Like Modric, the club’s prize asset.

William Gallas: Just signed new contract.

Tom Huddlestone: Highly-rated for his passing.

Aaron Lennon. Pace is one of Spurs’ biggest assets.

Jermain Defoe: Needs to regain fitness but proven goalscorer.

Sandro: Young and has a big future.

Steven Pienaar: Only arrived in January window.

Peter Crouch: Still a popular striker but depends who else arrives.

How does he suppose that Defoe is "going nowhere"? Even Harry seems to be losing patience with him, having subbed him on 60 minutes against Wigan.

Some muppet wrote that up in about 5 minutes. No substance at all!
Exactly what I was thinking...

However I do think it's true that all the outs will go, even though I want Niko to stay. I'd put both Defoe and Crouch 'in the balance' and Charlie and VdV in 'going nowhere'. Where have these 'whispers' about VdV come from? Absurd is what it is...Also don't think we'll get rid of Wilson unless he says he wants to leave.

I wouldnt cry if VDV left. he's been a joke for 3 months. We have't incorporated him into the team and the team has suffered from the constant shape shifting. We would have to sign 2 top forwards to accomodate him in a 4-3-3, and Azza has absolutely no use in that formation.

Presumably the voices in his head... he's put 2 and 2 together and made 15.

So we are looking for a replacement for Hutton but we may let Corluka go because we have a ready made replacement in Walker? Eh?

incredible how quickly the weather changes around here, already a few spurs supporters wanting VDV to leave because his form has dipped after several injuries, and how he's ruined our system  thats my favourite one, because couch and defoe were scoring so many goals together as a partnership before he turned up. having a world class skillfull attacking midfielder has ruined us

how anyone could not want to keep hold of a class act is beyond me, the only issues i would have is trying to keep him fit and injury free, which a good pre season should do. He has played similar minutes to Van Persie this season, scored 1 less, but assisted more. He's scored more than Nasri, bet arsenal fans dont want him out. same amount as rooney, only 3 less that super prolific bent who has played alot more minutes

I personally hope harry starts giving him the full 90 mins, a quick check of his stats show that he does indeed do his finest work in the last 20 minutes of games, even if he appears knackered. rather that than the incredibly useless league version of peter crouch and the even more useless 2 goals from open play in over a year Defoe

If I could choose the players we keep and build a team around, it would be somewhat different to that article. I am ignoring injuries and current poor form although we know only too well how they can affect our results.

Where a position isn't covered, it's because I think we need to find better players to achieve a world class side.

In no particular order, this would be my skeleton squad to build on:

Kranjcar, Woodgate, Dawson, VDV, Modric, Bale, Pienaar, Sandro, Gallas, Lennon, Hudd, Palacios.

I'd also definitely bring back some of our youngsters out on loan and give them bench opportunities with their home team.

Obvious vacancies are for a new keeper and a couple of really good strikers at the very least.

JJ should be in the "going nowhere" list I think he'll still be at Spurs when he's 90

Harry Kane needs to get a go next season at some stage, or at least in pre-season. We need someone who can score goals, and if we can't find anyone in the transfer market, we have to look at bringing someone through.

I'd add BAE to the list of going nowhere. Personally i think he is one of the best LBs in the prem and certainly one of the most underrated.

In the summer I think we are likely to keep: Gomes, Dawson, Gallas, Kaboul, Khumalo, BAE, Corluka, Walker, Lennon, Huddlestone, Sandro, Modric, Bale, Pienaar, VDV & Crouch with pretty much everyone else up for sale if we can find upgrades/replacements.

I really cannot see Keane, Pav, Bentley, Naughton, Gio, Krancjar & Woodgate being here when the new season kicks off.

Like John Wark at Ipswich? That guy never stopped even though he looked 50 when he was 21. Incidentally I've heard he's back in their youth team and staff at Portman Road are calling him the 'new Connor Wickham'...

(Lets see how long it takes for the Daily Mail to pick this up, take it seriously, and link us with a bid)

And if that's how 'Arry Redneck thinks, and if those reflect his ideas then it's 'Arry who needs the boot

Yeah something like that....I can definitely see JJ sitting on our bench when he is in his 50's....simply because he'll never leave
