I mean I agree I don’t think we are title challengers. But to cite our bench options as a reason for this is poor given the amount of injuries we have at the moment. I mean arguably our best midfielder is still to come back plus the likes of Johnson, Perisic and Le Celso. I do think we will address the centreback shortage in January.
It’s just bizarre punditry as literally no one associated with the club whether that is officials, management, players or fans have suggested that we are. There’s just a desire to win. Think we’re a couple of windows away, and that’s after we see how we maintain our form - got to say we look convincing.

Neville seems to really dislike Spurs this season. I guess it's jealousy as he thought Man U would be challenging and Spurs struggling.

I think he's not seen this style before and had a preconception it shouldn't work.

He's struggling to change his opinion but will have to soon.

I see we've gone from 'not good enough for the top-half' to 'not good enough for the title' in seven games. I guess that's progress...

Can't wait to see what we're 'not good enough' to do next week.

Incredible that after a very rare win against Liverpool all the media are discussing is how badly Liverpool were done by officials and barely a mention that Spurs were even playing, nevermind that they won the match. The pundits last night were a disgrace. We get zero credit for winning that game at all apparently.

The reason is that talking about Liverpool get clicks and interactions, which is all they want.

There's not much in the way of agenda against us. It's pure cynicism.

To be fair, it did take us until 95mins against 9 men to get a winner.

I think it’s probably a little laziness too; far easier to waffle on about refereeing mistakes than to analyse the way two top teams played against each other.

All of which were defensively minded and camped in their own box.

You should beat 9 men but it is being talked about as a foregone conclusion, from Jota going off onwards, their only task was to defend.

Also, we won, 1st minute, 95th, same three points.

Absolutely. If you want analysis, check out stuff like TIFO or one of the other less mainstream outlets. They're the ones that put in the extra effort. The established football media take all the shortcuts they can to make it easy for themselves while still getting those precious clicks and ad revenue.

Makes me sound like a right hipster that. But it's true.

He also believes that by their entitled rights Spurs should have gifted wrapped Kane and sent him to Man United for nothing for one reason and one reason only...because they are Man United and because he genuinely believes that literally every player in the world who walks this earth past and present has a burning desire to play for Man Utd.

I've found him massively grating this season and loving the sound of his own voice.

As you've said, he's got preconceptions already on certain players - case in point Saka and Rice last week and conversely Udogie.

He set his stall out early on how inverted fullbacks are a fad and merely trying to imitate poorly Pep and his holding steadfastly to that to his detriment.

Just caught up on MOTD... after discussing (excusing) the red cards, then whinging about the awfulness and long term implications of the offside call, the only words spoken about us were Shearer's "Well done to Spurs though, they've started the season well" before Lineker introduced the next game.

If that was the other way around, nobody would give a toss about the offside, our players would be immature for getting themselves in those situations and Liverpool would be getting lauded for their resilience and taking advantage of City dropping points.

It’s total jealousy. Last season he was thinking “United are back” all the while we seemingly slipped back to “where we should be”.

Then this season starts, we dismantle United comfortably and he sees such utter turmoil and terrible football at Old Trafford and sees us having a wonderful start playing attractive football so he gets jealous.

In the commentary last night you could hear him say a number of times “oh no” when we in with a chance to score.

We won’t receive much praise for yesterday but I don’t honestly care. Let us stay under the radar!

This is so sweet. We’ve come out of 7 points out of 9 having played United, Pool and Arsenal, and the wrong decision by an official means no one rates us stilll. Isn’t this how Leicester did that thing?

Yeah I think it's jealousy. I bet that when Ten Hag is sacked Neville will be constantly saying they need Postecoglu.

They later referenced the fact the show was squeezing in so many matches that their analysis for each game was shorter than usual.

Recently, Lineker, Richards, and Shearer have all raved about us in detail on their podcast, The Rest is Football. It’s obviously free from the bounds of BBC’s time constraints, and a surprisingly enjoyable listen.
