I don’t get rattled by him but you make it sound like Darren Bent did something noteworthy in our colours. He didn’t. He won a medal with us but was an unused substitute in the final. He scored only 18 league goals for us across 2 seasons which ranks below Iversen, Armstrong and - despite all his injuries in his time with us - it ranks below Les Ferdinand.

He wasn’t good enough for us. Can he put “played for Spurs” on his CV? Yes. Is he part of our club’s history? Is he fuck.

In fact, I see a delicious irony in the fact that he’s a massive Gooner and the peak of his career achievements is a medal won at Spurs that he contributed sod all towards.

N.B. Not intended to read as a pop at you @nferno - rather to reassure that he’s already been discarded from Spurs’ history.

didn’t take it as a pop don’t worry. Good post. (I just mean I wish we never spent money on the shitbag and had him play for us)

I see Darren Bent endeared himself a little bit more to us by picking a combined Arsenal/Tottenham 11 of 100% Goons.

Even Sandra wouldn't have done that.
For a gooner he celebrated pretty hard when he scored for us in the 4-4 draw over there. Maybe we can remind him of that.

The problem with selecting a best joint eleven all from one side is what do you do if that side then goes and loses?

Hari Kari I suppose. I'm willing to supply some blunt and rusty cutlery to Messrs. Keown, Campbell and Bent should this come to pass.

It feels obvious sometimes which ones don’t do any research. Jamie Redknapp seems like he just reads Paul Merson’s column and say “fuck it that’ll do” or relies on things he heard from a few seasons ago!

I think this is a bit harsh mate, anyone who has listened to his punditry can usually tell pretty quickly that Redknapp can’t read.

I need to channel my inner Keegan.

A couple of initial things that jumped out at me...
- Merson is so arrogant. I don't think I've heard such confidence from anyone with regards to a result for as long as I can remember. Get destroyed, ripped apart, no chance, slaughtered...#Wow
- Nice that Sherwood was more constructive and gave some positive comments
- Shame this clip didn't contain Dawson's comments, would have been interested to here what he had to say

thought he was alright, words too strong and not measured enough maybe, but he has every right to be confident as arse are a lot further forward as a team. He made a fair point on chances created and they have the players who can create their own chances. I am not knocking us and we have a chance but it’s the first time I’ve realised our need for a striker that’ll bury his chances. and be a complete pain and bully to their defence. He was pretty positive on where we are but you have to make arsenal favourites at the moment. I still have us for the win because why wouldn’t you but some of us need to be less sensitive and listen to the points being made.

Said it before, will say it again. He's a bloody lovely bloke and I can't help but like him. But he's not the sharpest tool in the box and his opinions aren't the greatest. He's obviously going to be biased but let's remember his Kane comments saying we wouldn't even be top half this season, long way to go but they look pretty stupid right now don't they?!. Opinions are like arse holes, everyone's got one! But it doesn't mean we have to take any notice of it or pay much attention to them. For the first time in a good few years, I'm actually excited for an away NLD because I know the players will actually give it a good go. There is very little pressure on us, it's going to be an extremely difficult game and there is every possibility that his prediction comes true, but his opinion has absolutely no bearing on the result, so let's just wait and see.

That was our 2nd game in. Of course we gave up chances. No-one is accounting for the fact we are only a few games into a huge reset. Arteta has bought players in and already sold a fair few of them just like pep did with his defence and GK.

Sheffield had chances too whilst Arsenal will create more and be capable of taking them. Everyone is aware of the reset which is why most are saying its a free hit as long as we give a fair showing.

The fact that Merson has gone so heavily in on us is because of one thing, and one thing only. He is nervous.

He is masking those nerves by being over the top. He didn’t speak about us like that last season, it’s because we are a threat now.

I agree, Arsenal fans have every right to be confident at the moment, and we have been shit for a very long time. I just think merson and co are really underestimating how good some of our players are, and perhaps overestimating how good arsenal's are off the back of one good season. Why is Odergard so much better than Maddison for example? Maddison had ridiculous stats in a relegated team last year and has been doing it for longer. I think people forget that Romero, Bissouma, and Son are actually top class players. It's also a bit disrespectful to Ange to assume it's just all out attack without any real tactics, but then he's right we do concede a lot of chances so let's see, hopefully we go out and make him look a complete idiot.

Quite happy they underestimate us really, and agree on the players we do have some class in the side. I’m starting to think biss will be better than dembele. Like the fact both Mads and VDV are getting call ups once they play for us. A good measure for other players we’re interested in.
