Indeed, he is our 5th highest goal scorer ( our highest in Europe) with 143 goals yet some supporters are stupid enough to slag him off. :(
People are wankers that's why. Defoe is a spurs legend and no he isn't Jimmy greaves or hoddle, but he is a legend nonetheless.
The rate harry Kane is going at, he might break that european record next season, should we call him a legend at the end of next season?

Im a big Harry Kane fan since I saw him as a 16 year old but he shouldn't be called a legend at 22

If he broke the record in 2 seasons, then yes, a fucking legend.

Defoe isn't a legend in the sense of some of the great, but he is part of our history and been good for us.

Legends don't leave twice & finish their careers elsewhere. Sorry.
He left because he wasn't playing the second time around. No need to apologise about it. Highest European scorer makes him a legend in my book but different horses and all that. The abuse he is taking in this thread is laughable. That last bit wasn't aimed at you btw.

The majority of those goals were against poverty sides in the Europa and the only reason he played in those games were because he wasn't good enough to be 1st choice striker.

I agree he is a great servant of the club but not a legend

Also people don't consider keane a legend when his only fault was leaving us for liverpool, I wonder if a big club came in for Defoe would he stuck around?

Sunderland fans sure as hell has stronger opinons on Defoe's legend status at Tottenham than I would've guessed.

I know this is a debated topic, but in my opinion Keane is a Spurs legend! He was a possible journeyman, moving between clubs who found a real home at the Lane, he was class at Spurs, we could certainly do with him at the moment, would compliment Kane nicely.

I like Defoe, but I don't think he was ever a top line, polarising player like Keane was.

Keane not a legend also, fair I guess.

No disrespect to you Yid-Ol but I will go to my grave thinking that if Robbie Keane had been brought back to
WHL in the Jan 2012 transfer window for the remainder of the season then we would have finished in 3rd ahead of
Woolwich who would have missed out on CL qualification in 4th after Chelsea won that feckin damn cup.

He was available at the time and proven.

Such is life.

i'm confused.. are we the opponents fans since we are debating defoe?
No need for confusion; it's quite simple. This thread is a magnet for forum members who believe that they can discuss whatever they want wherever they want irrespective of what the thread is supposed to be about. They couldn't give a fuck about wasting the time of those who aren't interested in whether they think Defoe is a 'legend'.

Stick around and the 'debate' will descend to idiotic puns and some idiot will post a cartoon.

If anything this is the most on topic an "off topic" discussion has been on this thread. Sunderland fans say defoe is going to play up front and we are discussing that he should deserve a good reception and whether if he is a legend
