I kind of know what they mean though even if it doesn't make rationale sense.

I still resent Coventry for the '87 final.
This was the first final I remember, and I think being 6 at the time made me remember it in a different way to losing finals as an adult.

The first football final I went to I was 7. I’d been to a rugby league final the year before and my team lost that to a last min drop kick.
Safe to say I’ve never been to a final since 😖

I went to Madrid and was really down for a while after, but overall had a great week in Italy and Spain. And now look back on it as a good experience. The Coventry final in '87 hours harder actually... which is weird, but 🤷🏻‍♂️

This United fan does a YouTube series on stadium visits and is very impressed by ours. Even makes a point debunking the "no trophy" banter:

Last Spurs game live was v Dortmund in CL at Wembley.

Joe Lewis Trial

I have next to no sympathy for billionaires, and none at all for financial cheats. But assuming his story is true (never insider trading for his own benefit, just giving tips to employees) I'd give this octogenarian a pass. Sure, he should have just given lavish bonuses and tipped in $100 bills. But letting some employees he liked get a taste of his world for not very much money--more than I have, but nowhere near enough to move markets--is pretty human and decent compared with the bulls**t most late-stage capitalists get up to.

It’s worth it.

I just moved back from the US because my Dad passed away a couple of years ago. Dad and I used to be in the Paxton Rd end then East Stand under the Shelf. My sister sorted out a tour for me and her (think that was a year and a half ago now) and got one of the special ones guided by a past star. As I understand it it’s the luck of the draw as to who you get.

It was only bloody Ossie. And when he came in he said he had a special surprise for us. Turns out Ricky Villa was in town with his wife, and tagged along. My sister speaks Spanish and so we hung out with him a bit.

I still can’t quite believe it. One of the best days of my life, and I’ve had a few good’uns.

More from the Bluemoon
  • Not the easiest draw but we are better than them.
  • Teams have had 9000 ish and thats what we are entitled to.
  • Almost certainly no Son and quite possibly too soon for Maddison
  • Prices for Brighton 2022 were £25/£10, Pompey 2023 £20/£10, Burnley 2024 £25/10 - for all games 2 adults and 2 kids family ticket is the same as 2 adults in price. Nothing like their league prices, cat C cheapest £37, and cat A cheapest £65 (I know less than ours).
  • Said this in the match day threads. I think some literally have loss of memory as to just who we are. The negativity is unbelievable.
  • Well Liverpool only got 7k for Arsenal yesterday and it’s the same sized stadium.
  • Police / Safety advice. We're not scousers.
  • Problem is we have been better than them the last 5 times we visited and got beat without scoring!
  • The more we play them the better as far as I'm concerned. Sooner or later we'll beat them and that's the end of the jinx.
  • We are due a win against these fuckers. Bring it on. Come on City!
  • FFS!!!!!!
  • From the Spurs website. They are just as worried as we are about getting knockout. A positive for them player wise. We'll have 13 or so days rest between United and this. Maddison, Romero and van de Ven all potentially back. Werner replacing Son in terms of killing them with pace. It's a tough tough fixture and it's frustrating that our FA Cup run could end so soon. But we win that and the confidence we'd get from it would be huge.

  • 103599-8abd8b35a16c8f2ae4ff9ed47c2937a0.png
  • I think it's a good draw. As it went on, was hoping we wouldn't get someone like Sheffield United. This way we'll get to see a football match.
  • By no metrics is it a “good draw”. It’s a terrible draw.
  • Oh! One of my favourite beers is brewed inside the ground. Beavertown Gamma Ray. Superb!
  • Awful draw for spurs
  • Quite. Let’s go and do them. Hoodoos end. And we are a fantastic team, I’m told the best in the land and all the world.
  • Think we easily sell the 9k ish personally unless Spurs take the piss on price. Didn't we take 6k to Arsenal for a night game a few years ago.
  • We took 6k to a quarter final arguably when it meant more. Maybe you’re right - I was stunned when we sold all the charity shield tickets. My gut feel tells me it will be less though. If they priced them cheap and opened up access it would help. Maybe we need to resurrect the Seat Counters thread to monitor this one.
  • Should be a tough game bot with Son gone i think we ll be in control.
  • Said this in the match day threads. I think some literally have loss of memory as to just who we are. The negativity is unbelievable.
  • The negativity from me is not because I think we will lose. It’s because the demands on our squad mean that we would be better served with an easier home draw where we can rotate.
  • This is probably the hardest possible draw we could have gotten.
  • Always watch the spuds games with my mate if I don't go to the match, going to select a nice pub with a big telly and buy him a few jars to ease his pain.
  • Pep has to stop shitting the bed when visiting them. control the game, score our chances and do not make fucking stupid mistakes at the back. also dont concede from their every on target shot.
  • Five defeats in our last five trips to there. That MUST change soon, it has to. I can’t believe Pep and the players would believe in ‘bogey teams’, we just take each game as it comes. Go there with our strongest available team and attack them right from the start. I’d go hung-ho for this, nothing to lose really as if we try for a controlled game they’ll try and press us, and get some dodgy var decisions their way. If we pick a fully attacking side and absolutely go for it I think we can win something like 4-2 or 5-4, whatever. Better than losing 1-0 to their only shot on goal.
  • We are due a result against this lot , they have scraped so many results against us over the years using up huge amounts of good fortune by the time the match comes around KDB , Haaland , Doku and Stones should be available and hopefully Pep selects a strong team to finally lay the Spuds ghost.
  • This is probably the hardest possible draw we could have gotten.
  • Which is exactly what they will be saying on the Spurs forums
  • We got a easier draw in Europe when it could of been tough so swings n roundabouts.
  • We’ve now got two chances this season to eventually score a goal at the Tottenham stadium.
  • Shocking draw for us…but also for them. Sooner or later we will beat these fuckers!
  • Not the worst draw considering. It would be the same if it was Villa in that it is a distraction for them in trying to quaIify for the Champions League and Son would still be on international duty. The only gripe with the tie is Timo Werner signing.
  • Bring it on I say! We will be just clicking into gear. I have every confidence we get the result.
  • gotta play these teams at some point, and they’ll be more pissed off than us with this draw as they’ve won Fcuk all in a lifetime. Pressure’s on them fcukwits not us. (16 year olds
  • Spurs ? Ffs
  • Has any club retained the treble?
  • Not ideal, but neither were Arsenal and Chelsea last season, and it didn't turn out too bad.
  • No son bissuoma or sarr for spurs maddison too its the best time to play spurs 4-3 with 10 men anyone??
  • Has any club retained the treble?
  • Nope, another bit of history to aim for
  • Said this in the match day threads. I think some literally have loss of memory as to just who we are. The negativity is unbelievable.
  • Shit draw though mate, home wouldn’t have been too bad, but we’ve never scored there never mind win, and it could of been a bit kinder that draw, but get a win there and as others have said a huge shot in the arm it could be for us, but it’s a big if at that place
  • Spurs will be more frustrated with the draw than us. 8k mancs taking over their stadium. Bring it on.
  • we'll need to win on penalties there then if we're going through :/
  • No pens,replay
  • I am surprised people atre that bothered. What we've achieved recently has made the FA cup seem small fry tbh. The only reason I want us to stay in it is to win the treble again but I think that is next to impossible. Its a shot to nothing, especially for us to break that hoodoo around their ground.
  • Said this in the match day threads. I think some literally have loss of memory as to just who we are. The negativity is unbelievable.
  • Yeah but every team has it's bogey team and they are it for us, at least at the moment. They won't have Kane or Son this time though, so we'll see, but they always seem to raise it when they play us. For me if there are two draws i don't want, it's away at them or the dippers.
  • I don't know mate, the FA cup is a big honour IMHO and wanting to win it every year reminds us not to be arrogant.
  • BUZZING With spuds away. I've not been to the new stadium so it's a opportunity for my grandson to see another stadium.we had a great night in Bristol last year. CTID
  • Fucking paying the penalty for the easy third round draw. Rags obviously aren’t
  • Another trophyless season for the Spurs.
  • This is the time to break our hoodoo at Spurs's new stadium. A bit like that time we finally won at Arsenal in the League Cup with that brilliant breakaway goal from Sergio. We took abut 9000 there that night.
...
  • Horrible ground to get to. I'm staying at Premier Inn Southgate and still it seems a chore getting there even though Southgate station is nearby. Horrible 30 minute minute walk after to seven sisters.
  • We tried WHL Station after the game once. Gave up and ended up walking back to Seven Sisters.
  • Cannot wait for this proper giddy, 9 thousand blues in London on a Friday night AND staying over come on ciiiiiiiity let's give it to the cockerneees "yer can stick chas n Dave up yer arse"
  • Mobile ticket arrived this morning. Hoping for a goal now to be scored by us at WHL.
  • Don’t think it’s possible to score at WHL anymore
  • I cant think of anything worse except perhaps three drummers. I have no idea why anyone would want to listen to drumming for 90 seconds never mine 90 minutes?
  • I detest these fucking things at football matches, not far off a Vuva whatsitsname for cringeworthy match spoiling fuckwittery …!!
  • If anyone had brought a drum to a game in the 70s they'd have had it took off them and smashed over the head with it!
  • Have booked a parking space on one of the apps right near Seven Sisters station, aiming to get there around 6. Hopefully traffic won’t be too bad 2 hours before kick off but it is London on a Friday in rush hour so that’s probably optimistic. Hoping being a little further out will mean I can nip away quickly after the game too but who knows. My first time at their new stadium, hoping we finally score a few goals and smash them.
  • M6...M1...Tottenham...London...Friday...Night...Accidents...NIGHTMARE !! Get off early !!
  • Never have truer words been spoken, you have more chance of knitting fog than having a smooth journey through that lot… 9 fuckin hours is my record…!!!!!!
  • I fear for those on the club coaches leaving at 1/2pm. Should be leaving no later than 11am IMO.

Match Thread on Bluemoon (I had forgotten to look for it earlier)

  • Kick off time 20:00 (GMT). Live on ITV1 for those in the UK. 13 days away, so the lads can get some rest in Abu Dhabi, hopefully get a player or 2 back in that time. I'll take us just scoring a goal.
  • Fuck off you spurs!!!!! 25 minute loop repeat of Ricky Fucking Villa pre kick off on ITV. Ortega will start which will help Eddie recover. Whisper it quietly but I think we might score a goal in this one...If the referee allows it to stand is a different matter!
  • Can’t wait for this
  • Surely, we're due to win there... Right?... Right?!
  • Prefer it in the league
  • Spurs, a fucking fraud of a club. How can a football club achieve so little, yet claim to be so big?!! They've done us over recently purely on luck and individual moments. They need teaching a lesson.
  • That was a glorious day when we schooled em at the Etihad in 2013, Negredo and Sergio with a brace, it was football artistry that afternoon.
  • City/Spurs & Spurs/City have delivered some of the most memorable games in English football history, certainly in the last 50yrs. This one has the potential to be added to that list.
  • About to hit medium to top torque... Have it, have it, have it!!!!
  • Agree with those who wouldn’t start Kev in this. His minutes will need managing and well, we know what he can do as an impact sub if needed!
  • Spurs, a fucking fraud of a club...
  • Indeed they are and they haven't won the league since 1961! Just because they've won a few games early doors with some nice football too many are fawning over them because they appointed a fat aussie chancer called Flance Costalogpoo who won a few pots at Celtic. What annoys me is some numpty dubbed his style of play 'Ange's style of football', lol. I think it should be minge ball because Spurs are a bunch of soft southern fannies. I'm confident we'll knock them out of the cup and end their chance of any silverware. 1 -3 City.
  • I'm a hipster ball... ffs!! Cockney pricks!
  • I’ve liked this post, and fully agree, and continue to dislike spuds as much as ever, but I will say that I like their manager so much more than the likes of Klopp or Arteta. I’m not saying he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread (it’s pundits and fans saying that, not him as far as I’m aware) but as a person he seems like a decent guy.
  • I agree, i quite like him too but i fuckin' hate spurs because they broke my heart in 81.
  • Agree re Ange vs Klopp and Lego Head. Just want to score and stuff them at their place, it's our cup and should remain that way ( nb not that you'd know we are current holders if you go by the Red loving media...)
  • I imagine we’ll finally get a goal at their spot with the way Ange will play.
  • I'm a hipster ball... ffs!! Cockney pricks!
  • Good to know that even ozzy hates spuds.
  • Spurs have a much healthier squad now, possibly even moreso when we play. They'll cause us a shit tonne of problems if Pep persists with the kamikaze 1v1 defending weve been seeing this season. we will concede more than a few to them so we will have to outscore them at a ground we've never scored in to progress.
  • I've hated them since 81.always will.
  • Will Son be back for this one ? We stand a chance if he isn't.
  • No, but Maddison apparently will be.
  • Typical. No doubt he’ll bloody score as well. Don‘t know why we always seem to shit the bed against these, they’re no better than Villa, Newcastle or Brighton yet we seem to freeze against them. It really is about time we went back to the days of beating these 5-1 (Dzeko 4). Can’t believe that was over ten years ago.
  • Man up. Stop missing absolute sitters and penalties, that’s all
  • We’ve dominated every game at that place and still somehow contrived to lose every time. These lot are long overdue a thrashing there
  • I want City to make a statement on this one, ignore the history of not scoring at the Spuds stadium, just go out and prove we are better then them
  • They were decent against Jim'll Fixit's mob but I wouldn't call them outstanding. Maddison is going to be severely lacking in match fitness to make any difference. This is the ideal time to play spursy.
  • Fuck Off You Spurs!!!
  • Time to bury the ghost at Spuds
  • Spurs, a fucking fraud of a club.
  • Indeed they are and they haven't won the league since 1961!
  • The lack of self awareness here is truly outstanding. Well done to you both. (Tottenham Fan)
  • I'll repeat, you last won the league in 1961 and your last won was the league cup in 2008.
  • Spurs are a business more than a football club. Its annoying to lose to them.
  • To sell 9000 tickets for a friday night game with no trains home is truly outstanding
  • It proves we've now arrived as a global club and at the moment we are the hottest ticket in town. The first signs were there in the charity shield. In spite of many of our regular fanbase boycotting the game I think we sold out our allocation for that, or close. The speed in which the Spurs tickets sold, in spite of all the difficulties of getting to and from the game, shows how desperate people are to watch us live.
  • Spuds will have most of their players back and possibly Son if they get knocked out early at AFCON, so expect to face the strongest Spuds team for weeks , also think Pep will go with a decent team after a couple of weeks break , this will be a good game, Spuds new style of play is aggressive/pressing which will leave them vunerable at the back , its about time we scored and won at their new stadium.
  • New style ? poch tried that shit and failed miserably when he was at spud.
  • Don't even see the fucking point here. Ah fuck it, 1-1 would feel like a win at that fucking place .......
  • Really looking forward to this. Note to self, don't walk out at half time if we're 3 down and down to ten men like the last cup game with spuds. One of the biggest regrets in life
  • New style ? poch tried that shit and failed miserably when he was at spud.
  • To be fair there has been quite a few Spuds managerial failures , they employ decent managers with good reputations , but it all ends up a bit Spursy
  • I loved seeing Helen and hearing her bell. She was a great supporter. I remember seeing her outside Wembley when we lost to Spurs in 1981. She looked as despondent as I felt.
  • Long overdue a goal and a win.
  • I'd be happy with just a goal. From little acorns....
  • It will be the game of the season. Both sides will have some of their players back. No fear or pressure. Both teams going for it. You can mock our stadium all you want but a night game with a big away support will be fucking amazing. No idea who will win but it will be great whatever happens. Can’t fucking wait.
  • Had a perfectly good goal taken away when Jesus scored there. Never a handball.
  • Time to smash these counts!
  • No doubt the build up to this game will go overboard with the showing of the second best goal in the 81 final. While the actual best goal will be lucky to get a mention.
  • I just wanymt us to be still in at HT and not blitzed by lightening pace. We really need to address our pace and or positioning at gge back..we really don't suit a high line if Eddie's not in nets. That gulf of space with a less commanding Ortega in nets..worrying
  • We never learn playing these , or rather the boys let it happen , ball over the top for runners every fucking time ! Drives me mad
  • yep, 5 games since they moved to the new stadium and we lost all 5. guess this is the first time neither Kane or Son is playing tho. if they still beat us this is a real hodoo/vodoo/curse place. Son did score in 4 games out of these 5 games. we have not even scored in these 5 games. 1x vs Pochettino, 2x vs Mourinho, 1x vs Nuno Santo 1x vs their ass. manager as Conte either was off sick or already gone when they had Stellini sitting in for a few games. time to break this shit cycle. its a joke they could rely on these 3 points for years now. send them out of FA cup so they have nothing but the league to play for. better if they get the 5th place than rags.
  • We (Spurs) are going to win 5-4. You will have an equaliser chalked off by VAR in the 95 minute. You know it is true. Cant wait. Friday night. Under lights. Full stadium. Neither side has anything to lose. (Tottenham Fan)
  • Can't stand you jammy ****s 'neither side has nothing to lose'..? we're not mates in this football thing, you're accustomed to losing, City are a winning machine don't put us in the same sentence.
  • Gut says spurs to win. Heart says not really that bothered if we lose to them in this cup game. It means the treble repeat is off, which is as much as this cup means this year. Strange. Higher levels I think. Would be nice to twat them though, their fans are just about the most misguided, after lfc fans.
  • Anyone think we will score there tomorrow? :)
  • Don’t be daft! We’ll lose 2-0, despite having 30 shots on target.
  • we ll win 3 2 but all our goals will be own goals to keep up us not scoring
  • Snap your hand off for that!
  • We've played well there a few times but lost, we're better than them and law of averages says we're due a win which will come tomorrow night. 1-3
  • You're right, we aren't mates. In football or outside. Your ludicrous and rather entitled statement shows me that... (Tottenham Fan)
  • I was at Wembley in 1981 and you and Ricky Villa can go f**** yourselves.
  • All I’m hearing from the press, neutrals and some Blues, is, we haven’t even scored at their place, let alone beaten the ****s… It’s an undeniable fact but whenever these things are trumpeted from the rooftops, the opposite inevitably happens.. City will score and City will win, that my friends is also an undeniable, definite fac…….possibility …!! 3-0 CITY….!!! :)
  • Can we beat the convicted true fraudster/cheats. Levy you providing a character reference for mitigation? Time for a new owner oh you true moral Spurs fans? Let’s be having you!
  • I will always believe Ricky's goal was better (Tottenham Fan)
  • What a shame the behaviour of the Tottenham fans that night wasn’t as good.
  • City will score and City will win, that my friends is also an undeniable, definite fac…….possibility …!! 3-0 CITY….!!! :)
  • I need some of your optimism medicine. We played five, did not scored from 22 shots on goal and had an average xG around 3.0. That 4:3 comeback back in 2004 jinxed us forever.
  • What a shame the behaviour of the Tottenham fans that night wasn’t as good.
  • It was deeply regrettable. I hope that element of our support has significantly diminished. (Tottenham Fan)

Because clubs like City and Chelsea have bought nearly all the trophies over the last decade or so!

Oh, and speaking of fraud....

That's a lot of posts for a pre-match thread. Is there a club in world football taking up more space rent free in their heads than we are? Probably not. Lovely to see.

They haven't played since 13th Jan. So not much else to talk about aside from probably Echeverri signing and Phillips leaving.
