It was actually an ARP Centre. A hub for all Air Raid precautions such as Fire, Ambulance, Police, heavy lifting etc.I thought it was some sort of thank you for letting woolwich use White Hart Lane for matches during the war as their ground was a bomb shelter?
We allowed them to play at our ground for this reason but also for the fact that we’d played some of our games at their place during WW1.
