What Our Opponents' Fans Are Saying About Us 23/24

Us being “figured out” will ultimately be teams realising that our midfield is better than 80% of the rest of the league. They’re currently foolishly going toe to toe with us with the intention of going after our weak defence, but our superior midfield is then going to work.
Fully expect teams to eventually to start to set up with 2 banks of 4 just outside their 18 yard box with the intention to catch us on the counter.
Its a fallacy, teams will never be able to "work us out".

Ange's teams play a system where the players are told to attack the space, whereever that is. If the opposition play narrow we go wide, if they double up wide we play through the middle. Its not a Conte automation, its teaching the players to think and decide for themselves whilst focusing on always moving forward.

The only way we get beat is if the opposition stop us from having the ball or we are off form

I do agree that teams will start to work us out and be interesting to see how we adapt.
Plus I do feel sides are bombing a lot of big chances against us. That will also change
The way Trent knocked long balls vs Man Utd? Could be our undoing with such a high line

Brentford did the same thing and we eventually got to grips with it and got on top in the match. Ange is a student of the game and he won't set us up to be sitting ducks.

Assume our left winger will be used to pin him back and give him something to think about defensively, be interesting to see who Ange uses

It will be Son, he's the only player of the options that you can trust to scare TAA into focusing more on defence than attack.

To be honest, I'm less worried about TAA than I am about Szobozlai. TAA will have no space to operate and will be neutralised because we'll have a WF high and left, we'll have Maddison in the half space and we'll also have Udogie ready to pounce the moment the ball comes loose.

Szobozlai is the only one in their midfield with the athleticism and power to break through our press whilst also having the technical ability to playing one of their pacy forward line. Liverpool are the team that could expose us more than anyone else in the Premier League

EDIT: The alternative is to play Johnson, Son and Kulusevski dropping into the half space to stop the initial transition

I ain't worried about nobody. Our defence maybe susceptible to a quick counter, but its not like their defence is Maldini and Baresi. Let them worry about us.

He adapted vs Brentford and vs utd.

the most surprising thing has been his tactical nous.
I was thinking about it today and I wonder whether now being able to switch 5 players in the course of a match benefits someone like Postecoglou more than a manager who doesn't have that same ability to adapt.

Its probably also the reason why he likes a squad with various options rather than clones who play the same way

While looking at info for the weekend, I came across a Sheffield Utd forum, S24su.com, but currently their match thread for our game is empty of comments so interesting to see what comment may appear in there in the buildup / during the match

There’s a little bit of chatter now…

Tottenham having more shots, more possession and more big chances under Ange then they have for a while.

My pick to finish 2nd. (maybe even outside chance of winning the league)

A draw would be a fantastic result but realistically don't see us getting anything from this game.

They also have another one with 4 pages of comments, but you have to be a member. I signed up and am waiting for admin to approve my membership so I can have a look.

Taking the “if a match thread has no comments, did the match happen at all?” approach.

Thank you for your service.
What I find amusing is that someone like @Jgplk1 will go to all these lengths to keep this thread strong and will get a few likes for each of his posts, then some random poster will say ‘just want to thank Jgplk1 for all his hard work’ and get 70 likes.

Jgplk1 must be sitting there thinking ‘fucking freeloader’.
