I've tried so hard in the past to poncify myself, but I always found myself being totally outponced by much poncier ponces, so I just gave up and carried on being working class scum, of which I learned to be proud because at the end of the day a ponce is just a ponce and poncism is just ponces trying affirm the belief in their own superiorness (new word?), otherwise known as self poncification, over us non-ponces.
Now you’re being poncy

Alli and Kane have more touches in the opponents penalty box (31) than the entire Manchester United squad (30). Tottenham have a total of 75 touches so far.

I honestly think we're gonna get embarrassed.

Park the bus. feck beautiful football we need to start winning. Smalling a must. Fellaini a must.

Strangely if we can stop Kane we can stop anyone...We will stop Kane...just not anyone else

If Spurs turn up and Poch gets his tactics right we're going to seriously struggle.
Eriksen, Kane, Alli and Trippier will have a field day against us if we play like we did against Brighton.

Lads, I'm worried.

I think we will get battered by Tottenham, but manage to hold on for a 2-0 loss. Mourino will not criticise his players, 'don't have the right attitude' Pogba will be enacting scenes from Dragon ball Z with Big rom and small Sanchez, and we will be raging here at Redcafe. Just another day at the office.

Atleast old man Rooney is lighting up the MLS.

We usually bring down Spurs to our level by slowing their game down and making their forwards invisible. Then we score a freak goal, after which the game descends into a stupor until the last 20 minutes when Spurs put some pressure on us, Eriksen creates a dangerous chance and one of their forwards hits the post. 1-0 FT.

Reckon a similar game this time. Could be 1-1 or 0-0 as well, but 1-0 is what I am hoping for obviously.

Feels very weird to be anticipating a game against Tottenham at home where we aren’t huge favourites to win. I know it’s been like that for a good four years now but it still feels strange, we used to batter them year in year out and now they are basically at a similar if not higher level than us.

I've more confidence in us beating spurs than any of the relegation fodder.

Time to give someone else the armband.
No Captain Pogwash on Monday night.

Depends on who is available, but I would really want to drop Fred for this one. Not the time to be rash and clumsy on the ball, so a player like Herrera would be much better. Matic - Herrera - Pogba, our go-to guys for games like these.

I think this guy is spot on. They’ll make it attritional for us. He hopes for one nil but there could be a similar game and it be 1 nil to us. Had Dele scored the chance last year and us not fallen asleep in defence then that’s what would have happened. Lots of ifs and buts, although games like this are often decided by the slimmest of margins.

they aint that good they rode their luck last season with dodgy decisions etc and jammy wins and shit penalties and this season even their first game just edged a win and sissoko should have been off. Their luck is gonna run out soon enough especially with injuries.

Yeah...cheers Maverick, let's ignore our achievements having to use Wembley for the season.

A spurs points deduction is our best chance of breaking into the top 5, absolute scenes

No way they’ll deduct points imo.

Imagine they get a points deduction that takes them out the top 4

Here's a thought. Why don't you losers qualify for top 4 on your own merits as opposed to looking like saddo's wanting us to have points deducted.

And yet they are above us. Hopefully their luck will finally run out this season.

First sentence...informative, second...luck, what luck. Seldom got our strongest 11 on the pitch last season and haven't as of yet this season. Twonk.

Cant they not just play their matches without attendance?
All you need is the pitch

If you still aspire to poncehood, try 'neologism' here.

Comments like this tend to highlight just how little some rival fans have even paid attention to our results, let alone actually sat and watched us.

We had 3 penalties in the league last season, and two of those were at Anfield. The other came in a 3-0 win (at Burnley) so it could be argued it didn't affect the result.

Also, of our 23 league wins last season, 15 were by more than a single goal. Not sure how you can beat teams 4-0 and it be considered "jammy". Of the 8 which were by a single goal margin, four came in the last 7 games of the season, when teams are scrapping for everything and we were already out of Arsenal's reach. One of the other single goal victories was at home to Arsenal, when they were lucky we didn't score 4 or 5.

As for luck with injuries, fuck me! Firstly, we hear every season how we'll be screwed if Kane gets hurt. Then Kane gets hurt and we keep winning games. We've also had Rose, Lamela and Alderweireld miss large chunks of the past two seasons due to injury and still done alright. Secondly, every team who suffers injuries complains that they've been really unlucky. Can't have it both ways. Finally, in the same post he says Sissoko should have been sent off. Sissoko is our 5th choice central midfielder - the only reason he was on the pitch to begin with is because we had injuries/fitness issues with 3 of our other 4 CMs!

I'm hoping the '79' in his handle doesn't reflect the year he was born, because anyone posting that drivel over the age of 14 shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard.

I don't like it when our fans get arrogant and assume we're going to be top four every year now as I think any one of us, Arse, United and Chelsea can finish in the top four. But I otherwise agree. There is one word that is pertinent. Consistency. In three years we have had three top four finishes and two title challenges. You don't do that if you are just scraping by and having a lucky season.

Let's face it, the Arsenal fans can't stand that we are real competition now. That the days of us spending years in mid table are gone. They'll do anything to delude themslves we aren't, but it speaks volumes that they now have to resort to things like starting petitions for points deductions to get at us.

Totally agree. Arrogant to assume top 4 is a given. But at the same time, ignorant on some other fans part to write us off so quickly and fail to acknowledge our achievements of late.

Nervously kidding themselves one thinks.
