Not sure if this question has already been asked, if the unthinkable happens and we finish in 4th behind arsenal and Chelsea manage to win the champions league. Do we get bumped into Europa?

i think so, what would be funny is if we finish 3rd with arsenal in 4th and chelsea win the CL though!......not going to happen, Real or Barca will win it this year.

I think having a club like Chelsea winning the champions league/European cup would be bad for the sport and devalue the competition. No way in a billion years would I support them against anyone, unless they were playing Arsenal in the final!

But yes, that is the case, if Chelsea win the Champions League and finish outside the top 4, the 4th place team will enter the Europa League.

The team finishing third will have the fourth place spot of the qualifiers.

Agreed, a fairly narrow win over Benfica doesn't show that they have the bottle to win against the World's Best team over two games, especially with the congested fixture list they have (4 games in 10 days - 6 games in 17 days)

But to answer the question, YES, Chelsea would qualify and I think they do NOT have to enter the Pre Qualification stage, so effectively it would be like they finished 3rd, Arsenal 4th and us 5th, assumin Newcastle don't catch us too!!

Strangely, I think that it would be best if Chelsea missed out and Arsenal make it. We rarely lose players to Arsenal, whereas Chelsea have been sniffing around a certain Croatian, and who knows who else. With them out of the CL next year, I think we stand a better chance of keeping the team together. Plus, there's always the giddy dream that Arsenal finish 4th and don't make it through the qualifying round!

I disagree this was the best draw chelsea could of hoped for out of the three, because in terms of ability the other 3 teams can knock them of the park but this chelsea team does do these one off performances to prove something and this is the last chance these players will ever have in the Champions League and its against the team they were robbed from 3 years ago
