Don't need another hardworking 'run about a lot' midfielder

We've got a load of those already

With both Winks and Ndombele sticking around, we clearly won't sign another depth player for the midfield.

McKennie was suspended for the 2nd WCQ and then sent back to Italy for the third. Officially the suspension is for violating team rules.

Best case it was for bringing someone into his hotel room and violating team rules and covid protocols. The worse case is reports (unconfirmed) is that it was a teammates sister.

Either way, an unfortunate continuation of the poor decision making of McKennie seen at Juventus.

This was from Landon Donovan

“It is almost beyond repair, and he has a lot of work to do with his teammates to make sure that he never does something like that again because you lose trust in your teammates,” he said on the Futbol with Grant Wahl podcast.

Donovan knows a few things about World Cup and the qualifying process, having performed in three quadrennial tournament (2002, 2006 and 2010).

“I am I am privy to what happened I’m not going to announce that publicly,” Donovan said on the podcast. “I will just say, I am incredibly disappointed in Weston, incredibly disappointed. Look, I can understand Juventus during a long club season, you’re sitting at home for months and months and months and you want to have people over. Is it the smartest thing to do? No, but I get it.”

Rumor is he broke COVID protocol and went out in Nashville (where the WCQ was being held) with some bachelorette party (hen-do for the Brits), then brought someone back to the hotel (also breaking COVID protocol). No excuse for that type of behavior, especially when you're trying to make the WC after missing out last time.
