Jesus hat was a bad one!! Phone fart and beer googles!! I will rephrase....

All correct apart from selling Daws!!

But I'm sure you got that, I really so think we can make a real to of it this season if we get 2 more creatve players in. Even at that I think he players we have will get better and improve once they get to know each other.

A few more rum and cokes and I would have, yes.(y)

I will just take 4th and a champions league spot after the last two years of heartbreak.

However, we are on the right track going forward especially with avb.

Aside from being weak up front, our issue has been depth. With a full team we could beat anyone on the day but one injury and we go on a losing streak. Looks like we are starting to fix that.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the concept of this thread. We should be ultra ambitious, as we've never been in such strong shape in the Premier League era.

The simple fact of the matter is that after we sign Lamela and Chiriches, we will be able to roll out a very high class side with quality all over the squad. When you consider we'd still have a surplus of 17 million pounds in just our transfer dealings, on top of a 30 million pound increase in television revenue, we will likely still bring in at least 2 other top class signings.

I think once Lamela is fully embedded in the side and we beat Chelsea at WHL at the end of September (which I anticipate to be our 6th straight win to start the season), then people will begin to believe we can actually pull this off.

6 players? think 3 should do IMO if bale stays..

Lloris/Friedel

Walker/Naughton Kaboul/Dawson Vertonghen/Chiriches Coentrao/Rose

Capoue/Sandro Paulinho/Dembele

Lamela/Townsend Bale/Holtby Chadli/Sigurdsson

Soldado/Defoe/Kane

Walker/Naughton Kaboul/Dawson Vertonghen/Chiriches Coentrao/Rose
Capoue/Sandro Paulinho/Dembele
Lamela/Townsend Bale/Holtby Chadli/Sigurdsson
Soldado/Defoe/Kane
In that scenario, we wouldn't be able to have Defoe and Kane as back ups and just rely on Bale to score all the goals if Soldado got injured (because Defoe and Kane wouldn't be). I'm not figuring bale in any of my plans either; think he'll go.

RB would also be weak as would NOT be able to rely on Naughton to cover Walker.

Also you've got a 23 man squad there and I think AVB only wants 22.

If we only get Lamela, chric, LB, CF we could still definitely compete for the title. Kaboul can cover RB on his day (when fully fit and firing on all cylinders), so we'd be ok...until Jan where we could get another RB and a CM. If, by that time, we're well in the running I think we'd be willing to pay that little bit extra you have to in Jan to strengthen where we need.

If Bale does end up staying for some strange reason then bringing in Lamela, Chiric, LB, CF will do.

I've got a feeling we'll end up getting 5 more players, anyway (lamela, chric, LB, CF, CM) as Bale will probably go.

I think we've got the makings of a great squad, and so far the new players seem to have settled in quickly and seamlessly, but thinking of adding a further 5 or 6 players is going to come with drawbacks as well as the obvious plus points. One of the great advantages that we have had over the other teams is continuity. Chelsea, City, and United all have new managers, with City and Chelsea making significant playing changes too. If we make another 5 or 6 signings that will be 9 or 10 new players, which is probably more changes than anyone else.

It's not just about getting in new players, you need the right mentality and swagger that goes with it too. That's why Man U keep getting results even though their midfield isn't that great. This season will be a transitional season, whether Bale goes or not because we have a lot of new players coming in.

Mind the gap anyone?

If Soldado breaks a leg we are back to Ade and JD and I do not see us buying another CF of his calibre.

I like the optimism but we have a lot of new players who will take time to bed in properly. The Prem also take more of a physical toll than some of the players will be used to. It's a marathon, not a sprint, particularly if we take the Europa seriously -and I think we will.

I'd happily take a Top 4 finish, winning the Europa and a real good go at the League and FA Cups.

If Soldado gets injured and we have to rely on Adebayor (who was beyond woeful last season) then I am not even sure we would make top 4.

RB would also be weak as would NOT be able to rely on Naughton to cover Walker.

I think he would be just fine as cover. Apart from City and Chelsea I'm not sure any other team really has a top drawer player as cover for RB.

Despite our amazing summer spending so far I think we still need to be realistic about our revenue and total wage bill, and how that means we can't afford to have top class players who won't even make the bench. I'm personally not a huge fan of either Walker or Naughton, but they will certainly do.

New RB doesn't have to be top top, just needs to be less brainfart prone than KW and solid in attack/defense.

I get the impression that some people believe that you have to be perfect to win the league. Not so. I believe that all we'd really need is 10 more points than last season. We dropped 46pts last season, so there's plenty of room for improvement.

I believe that we dropped a lot of points because of injuries, new personnel and lack of a striker.

If Bale stays and we sign Lamela or similar. I dont think the new 'top 3' are quite as amazing as people make out.

I think Liverpool will be a threat this year too. A top 6 capable of getting results against each other is how I see it.

I fully agree with Thinktank that we can win the league this year and not neccesarily by adding 6 more players. Provided we bring in a very creative midfielder and another goalscorer I'm positive we'll then have the squad to do so.
When in Enic's history has the head honcho ever stepped in and offered a supposed 50 million interest free loan to the club........NEVER.
Why, because he senses blood, Chelski's, Man Ure's and Citeh's to be exact.
He knows that this is our moment and that's why he, Danny boy and AVB are buiding the squad we've dreamed about over the last few years.
Come on guys, have some FAITH.....................an optimistic perennial Spurs supporter of 56 years standing
