apparently the rumor was 15m euros, AZ have now moved the goal post to 20m euros due to Wolfsburg making an offer.

if the player has been over, and agreed terms, another thing Modric didn't do, for his club to start making the move not happen, would you expect him to be doing cartwheels when asked ?'s

This is like how we bid for Ings.... Lol. Levy should go mess up Wolfsbug next signing once we seal this.

Really, that is ridiculous. They could have had 63m pounds for Ighalo and Deeney if true.

I think we should sign both Janssen and Sanabria (27.5m for the pair if reports are true) and loan Sanabia out, as if we only get one and they aren't successful, we might not be able to afford to sign another in a year or two.
Watford could have had £63m for them, but how much would it have cost them to sign two strikers that they could be sure would keep them up in this market? Because staying in the PL is worth an awful lot much than £63m to them...

Watford rejecting EUR 46M bid from Shanghai SIPG for Odion Ighalo sums up the current situation. the moment Batshit leaves for Chelsea for EUR 40M, the prices of strikers just got even more distorted. Likewise if MU comes in for Kane, what price do you think he would be sold since there is always a price? Just to illustrate my pt.

The tv money had inflated player prices esp those that are in demand. I just hope we close this deal asap since it is the most impt position we need to fill. The rest we can wait, no problem.

I think in today's market, Kane is easily 120 million pounds.

Good point, but tbh honest, there is no guarantee that Deeny and Ingahlo will keep them up. I wouldn't sell Deeny but I think I would let Inghalo go (only scored 1 in the last 14 games) for 38m and bring in Berahino for about 15m.

lol... that is too low, I would had put 150M pounds from MU since he will be their poster boy for many yrs generating hundreds of millions in revenue just by image rights, merchandise, adverts etc. I think they will recoup the money on the 2nd yr provided Kane remains their top striker.

Vincent Janssen: "It is best if Tottenham, AZ and myself are happy. That could've already been but AZ are blocking my dream transfer." #thfc

Piece in today's De Telegraaf with some quotes from Vincent Janssen that are all essentially crying out "I WANT TO LEAVE ASAP"

seems like AZ is playing on time through the weekend waiting for some other clubs to offer some bigger money, after seeing how chelscum throw oil money at OM..

hopefully Jassen is dead-set on coming to us and not gonna turned by others..

Janssen says to hit more frustrated by the day. "AZ wanted me there last year from day one of the have prepared for, because this is important for a player to take a step up. This has helped a lot to me and I want to Tottenham. The management knows that this fine is for me. But clearly Vincent Janssen are not important. I trust AZ in each case with Spurs will talk. If AZ do not, despite the offered amount and the Spurs drop out, then that is a blow to me. I'm not one to make quick war, but how I react, I do not know. I therefore assume that AZ realizes quickly that a transfer for everyone is the best. "

Apparently we made EUR 18M offer and was about to fly there to negotiate but AZ refuse to talk.... that is why he was pissed.

Which makes it vital that we can try to come to terms with AZ. Haggling over a mill or two (yes I know its still lots of money) in the current climate seems just very...Levy.

What would be the point of Roma selling him, why don't they just loan him out and reap the benefits?

To be fair to AZ they are probably seeing teams like West Ham and Palace galloping round Europe with £30m to throw at random strikers - a true advert for the bonkers nature of the PL - and think they can get a few extra quid for their man.

Janssens in the other hand are probably music to Levy's ears!

The way transfer fees are going this summer, mostly off he back of English TV money, Batshuayi going for €40m when most thought €30m would do it. Watford turning down huge sums for players who 12 months ago you'd have thought they'd have snapped buying new clubs hands off.
The market is going crazy. And the longer we delay signing one do our targets, haggling over a couple of €m, or how it's to be paid, I actually think the prices well continued to climb anyway. Admittedly it's way to say when it's not my money, but if we are close with deals, they should step up quick and get them over the line before the selling club ups the price again based on camparitive players, or rival clubs coming in based on be decreasing number of quality signings still available.

The fact West Ham and Palace have been able to wade into other negotiations with big bids should be a warning. Equally, in the Janssen saga, PSG are (rightly or wrongly) rumoured to be hovering as they have to replace Zlatan. The Goons are looking for another target now Vardy has fallen through.

Let's be 100% honest here..the club allowed him to come to Tottenham, meet with club, discuss terms...they have accepted they are selling. They are trying to get the best deal for him, makes sense but this shouldn't be a very complicated one.
Whenever we are close to getting over any line, complications always tend to fly in from every direction, left right and centre. No club on this earth is better at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when they are touted as being so close to achieving an objective......

Seems like we were waiting for the Brxit vote to be REMAIN to make the £ stronger and got it wrong!

They have spent quite a bit of money and now need to sell to balance out for FFP (even though they have already sold Pjanic and Dodo).

I'm a realist and understand the value of money, but if we miss out on another striker who we clearly are desperate to sign over £1.5m-£2m (yeah, it's a lot of money to you and me, but not in footballing terms...), I'll be wondering what direction we are expecting to head next season. Levy is always holding out for that extra few million when he's selling a player, what would make him believe other clubs aren't going to do the same?

You have to take a chance on players these days unless you want to end up paying £30m-£40m and £100k+ p/w on an established striker, which we haven't done in 3 years. Why wait another 6 months to a year and have another £10m put on his price tag?
