Rafael van der Vaart has urged Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp to show faith in the squad which he believes is good enough to win the Premier League title.

Van der Vaart has been a revelation since his £8 milion move from Real Madrid in the summer, with the playmaker having bagged 11 goals in all competitions so far this term.

Spurs currently occupy the fourth Champions League spot, just eight points behind leaders Manchester United, and with over a third of the season still to play, many have tipped the club to push all the way for the title.

And Van der Vaart believes the squad Redknapp has assembled is good enough to see off the forthcoming challenges.

League leaders United arrive at White Hart Lane on Sunday and the last-16 clash with AC Milan is looming large on the horizon, but the Dutchman doesn't believe there is any need to splash the cash in the transfer window.

Van der Vaart told Goal.com UK: "I'm very happy with the team because we have great players in every position, the longer the team plays together the better they will get.

"You look at the squad that we sent out the other day against Charlton in the FA Cup, they said it was a second string side but you know, they looked excellent.

"There were a number of great players that day so it shows just how good the squad is, why change? And I believe it's one of the best in the league."

And while Redknapp is unlikely to heed his talisman's words, Van der Vaart believes if the north London club go the distance this season, they'll have their manager to thank.

"The manager is key to the player's winning mentality, it comes down from him. You have to believe in yourself, it's the biggest thing in football," said Van der Vaart

"If you believe it will happen, then it can happen. And the manager’s key to that for us."

If he wants to work with Pav, Crouch and Defoe, then so be it. I know I'd much prefer Suarez.

I can't see why it matters what the publication is, it's direct quotes from the bloke.

Well if this quote is true I fear it is the strongest evidence yet that Van Der Vaart is vying for a position as the club PR officer, and wants out of the whole messy business of actually playing football.

It's a worrying turn of events. As much as he likes to make glowing, crowd-pleasing, inspiring statements about the present squad, I can't help but feel that his talents would be better spent utilising his skills on the pitch.

I hope Harry and DL are reading this and reject his misguided desires for a career change, and go for someone more honest, down to earth and likeable, such as Max Clifford.

He's wrong. We need world class talent like Phil Neville, Wes Brown, Scott Parker, Steven Pienaar, Shaun Wright-Philips and Shola Ameobi before we can even think of challenging.

Man Utd bought purely squad players in the Summer, it isn't just about the big names if you want to do well. The biggest stars often rise from within.

Don't want to be too picky, but he doesn't mention winning the league. And only says we're 'one of' the best teams. Old fashioned concerns perhaps - the economy must move sufficiently fast and thus profitable, sensational lies are more socially beneficial as headlines than the truth.

This is so, so true...I have them both on 'block' and would advise others to do the same.

Obviously my abilities at delivering sarcasm are not as finely tuned as I thought.

Just to clarify 'freeki'...after careful consideration I'd say that VDV is an incredible player, and that anyone suggesting he should stop praising the team so much is probably wrong...or using sarcasm to imply that the opposite is true and that I'm obviously very happy that he is both playing and vocalising the support for the team.

Oh and just incase....I actually think Max Clifford is a dick, and the very antithesis of honesty, down to earthness and likability.

So, you don't like Max Clifford, then:shrug:

Freeki, SpurgerKing isn't actually real. He's a cyber-space simulation (perhaps stimulation, too) of a Spurs fan:wink: You thought 'people' on the Internet werre real:shrug::eek:mg:

You really think so? You wouldn't rather Drogba, Anelka, and Sturridge/Kalou? or Rooney,Berbatov and Hernandez? Or van Persie, Arshavin and Chamack? Or Dzeko, Adebayor and Tevez? (!) I really would.
