Dutch midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart has confirmed that he will leave Real Madrid this summer, but has ruled out a return to Ajax.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw between England and Holland last night, Van der Vaart rejected suggestions he could join up again with former coach Martin Jol at Ajax.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder said: "I obviously know Martin [Jol] well since my time at Hamburg, whilst the interest is flattering, I’m not coming back to the Arena."

Van der Vaart added that he sees his future in either England or Italy: "There are some clubs interested that I don’t want to join. Where do I want to go? The best option would be England or Italy."

A move to the Premier League for Van der Vaart could now be on the cards, he added: "Germany has crossed my mind, but that is not my first choice. I hope to go to England. I hope for a move there."

Anyone think we should go in for him?

YES!!!

Fucking hell, this is the type of player we should be going for. I'm SURE £10m would do it.

He wants England? where's he going to go? none of the top 4 require a player in his mould, so it'd be us or Villa really.

He would be excellent foil for Palacios because as well as being a creative force he also works so hard off the ball.

Gomes

Corluka Woodgate King Assou-Ekotto

Lennon Palacios Van Der Vaart Modric

Crouch Defoe

That is a beast of a team.

Sweet left foot as well and when Modric drifts in, VDV can drift out to put crosses in from the left.

That's what I was thinking mate. He'd slot right in. And you're right in saying that none of the top 4 whould be in for him. And who wants to live in Birmingham?

Jump aboard Rafael! And bring yer misses!

I think the commentator mentioned during last night's game that he has said wherever he goes he it will have to be where his missus can receive the best treatment as she has just been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Or have I got that totally wrong and he was talking about someone else?

His Mrs is Jewish as well and received anti-semitic abuse during games in the past.

We would welcome her with open arms.

Holland star Rafael van der Vaart sparks Premier League scrap as FIFPro suggest he can leave Real Madrid for nothing

Rafael van der Vaart could spark a scrap for his signature after being told he could leave Real Madrid for free.

The Holland international is looking for a new club after the La Liga giants said he would be offloaded for around £10million, but a top football lawyer says he can go for nothing. Madrid have not given a squad number to the 26-year-old, who has been linked to Chelsea and Liverpool, which has been interpreted by the international players' union as not respecting his contract.
FIFPro lawyer Wil van Megen said: 'It's obvious that Real is not planning to let Van der Vaart play and does not want to make use of his services anymore.

'He even did not get a player's number for the new season. In such a case they should let him walk away for free.

Battle: Van der Vaart's wife Sylvie is continuing her treatment for breast cancer

'Apparently he's worth nothing to them, so why should they ask a transfer fee?
'FIFA and the clubs always talk about players who should respect their contracts. But in this case Real is the one who is not respecting the contract.

'They have just written Van der Vaart off by refusing him to be a part of the team.

'In my opinion by acting in this way Real has lost the right to demand a transfer fee for this player.'
Van der Vaart has rejected a return to Holland or former club Hamburg, and would prefer to play in England, Italy or Spain.

His future has been complicated by his wife Sylvie needing continuing treatment for breast cancer

Would love him at the club. Respect to him for putting his wife first.

As for that FIFPro lawyer, I reckon thats a load of bull. They will still pay him, so I dont think he can claim they have forfeited the contract. If they gave him a number but still refused to play him would he still be able to leave for free?? If a player doesnt play in a game even though he is fit and available, can he leave for free?

Very good player, but I don't think he could play CM in a 4-4-2 in the EPL.

In fact, if we did sign him, I'd be tempted to play Luka at CM next to Palacios and have VDV on the left. Because Luka works much harder, and is better positionally and defensively.

For the Dutch last night, VDV was playing the ACM role in a 4-2-3-1. He had two DMs behind him, and his job was to be the link, the spark, the fulcrum, of the attacks of the Oranje. Something he did very well.

If Redknapp switched to 4-2-3-1, then Lennon, VDV and Modric would be a very potent 3 behind a lone striker. Gio would also be an ideal back-up.

However, there's a caveat with VDV. He would have to recover his goalscoring form.

Here is VDV's goals to games record:

Years Club Apps (Gls)†
2000–2005 Ajax 117 (52)
2005–2008 Hamburg 74 (29)
2008– Real Madrid 32 (5)
2001– Netherlands 69 (15)

So, a good goals to games ratio for Ajax and Hamburg. An ordinary goals to games ratio at Real Madrid (where he's often been used as a substitute) and for the Oranje.

I'd be happy if Spurs signed him. But we'd probably have to change our system to accomodate him.

she's not jewish lol as far as i know. she's mix raced however, dutch/indonesian.

they were blaming his poor form on her when their relationship was just known and he started the season being overweight slightly.

they were saying things like he rather plays with sylvie's ball instead of an actual football. sylvie meis is known for her chest. at that time she played in a dutch sitcom that took place in a spanish vacation spot near the sea where a lot of young dutchies go to and i think most of the people/men/so-called ajax supporters that abused her were just jealous that vdv wifed her..

anti-semitic abuse happends all the time since amsterdam has a huge jewish population and is known for anne frank, diamonds etc.

like spurs, ajax supporters call theirself jids/jews and the jewish symbol is integrated in many banners.

Personally I seen him play about a dozen times or so and he's never done anything that has impressed me in the slightest. For much of early career it has been claimed he was more concerned with the social scenes of Amsterdam and Hamburg, than what he was doing on the pitch. Obviously the recent news about his wife may put his life into perspective somewhat, but I would 100% prefer Jenas to him all day long.

vdv (like sneijder) is a typical number 10, they excell in the play-makers role just behind the striker/s.

he has however played cm and dm before at ajax (so he can stand his own defensively) and did quite well, but his preferred position is acm.

Obviously haven't seen him play as much as you, but Sneijder looks a different class to VDV to me, really never been very impressed by him at all.

Absolutely agree.

Deselina - I respect your opinion. Do you think he could play CM for us in a 4-4-2 of:

Lennon VDV Palacios Modric

you can't be more wrong. he's happy with his wife and kid and sits at home most of the time after training. you hardly see him in the glossy's unless she graces the cover and usually it's just her that is in the limelight most of the time.

vdv is no patrick kluivert, not all dutch footballers are like patrick kluivert, so don't compare every dutch footballer with

patrick kluivert lol, okay maybe sneijder is.
