He's a good player. Couldn't force his way back into the team after his injury. Definitely worth a punt if Woody has to retire.

didn't we almost pay alot of money for him before he moved to villa? really glad we didn't. would make sense getting him cheap as backup if we needed it, but with the defenders we've got surely he's unneccessary? guess it depends on woody's fitness.

Something like 8-10m was quoted if I can recall. Crazy talk! He would serve nothing but a cheap backup and likely not necessary.

Hopefully Woody will be ok....

Surely we are capable of unearthing some Serbian or Croatian
young CB ( ala Vidic) to play as 4th choice, rather that this bloke.

If he was cheap I wouldn't be opposed as it gives us more options and I don't ever want to see Huddlestone or Corluka playing center back again and if this move makes sure that never happens that is fine by me.

Don't know why Davies would want this move as he would play in about 10-15 games a year as compared to 40 or so at a smaller club but maybe wages would help?

I thought Davies showed a spot of class when he first started and had a bad game and called himself out in the press.

But then he came back and started to become a really solid defender and was fantastic next to Laursen as they fought for 4th two years ago.

I actually like this as a 4th.

we have 5 cb if u include woody.we don't need 5!

But if Woody is crocked we actually have 3. Just because Huddlestone, Corluka and Kaboul can play there, doesn't mean they should, especially when our best defender is capable of long absences. And to be fair, we should expect Daws to be out a bit. He throws his body around and we love it, but that will cause time on the bench.

I'd rather have Woody. And after Woody, I'd like Kjaer. But Davies is English, pretty good and seems to have a good hear. If forced to, not a bad option

Replace Woodgate with Curtis Davies......

That's like replacing Gene Hunt with Mary Whitehouse!

Don't forget the new homegrown rule though. Curtis as 4th choice would be better for us than a new prospective foreigner in this respect.

Peanut is top quality ITK, but that is quite underwhelming news, as said.
