Wait...what? heh?
4 divisions with each division having groups of 3 or 4 and the winners of each group only within division A (the strongest teams), get automatic slots at Euro 2020?! So what about the rest? How do they qualify? And if this is alongside the usual qualification, then what about all the normal qualification matches they have played, or does this replace it... what the hell is this tournament? It makes zero sense, at least from that article.

Good way of bringing international football to the front. Like the idea of it personally.

I don't get it either....
The four semi-finalists will automatically qualify for Euro 2020, but that specific part of the "Nations League" takes place in June 2019, which is halfway through the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
How can it drive sporting integrity if those 4 teams can then say "screw it" for the remainder of the qualifiers??

Alternatively you could say screw the qualifier, let's pick a stronger squad for the Nations League games and hope you get into the Euros that way (a bit like winning Europa to get into the CL).

Another stupid idea from Blatter, Platini and Co.

Ok it's not just me then...
I mean it could just be the Guardian article that is crap and I will await further details before making judgement, because right now it's hard not to call this a complete load of rubbish.

What a load of shite.

Trying to reinvent the wheel just so they can generate more money. I dont like friendlies as much as the next fan but rather than bring in a Europa League type "sister" qualification competition for the Euros they should just reintroduce the regionalised competitions like the Home Nations Cup and the Scandanavian Cup or other tourneys of that type.

Not normally one to even think of defending Blatter but I don't think he would have anything to do with a Uefa events as he is the head of FIFA.

Since I (and hopefully alot of folk!) are going to be boycotting the next 2 world cups in their entirety at least this might give us some good international football to watch, eh?

True, but surely as head of FIFA he must have to be in agreement....

Will qualifying for the UEFA EURO change?

The changes to UEFA EURO qualifying make it more streamlined. The equation is now simple: 10 groups with the top two teams in each group qualifying automatically with other 4 places being awarded to UEFA Nations League play-off winners.

The UEFA EURO 2020 qualifying draw will be held after the completion of the UEFA Nations League and allow for the four UEFA Nations League Final Four participants to be drawn into groups of five teams

But the key principle of the qualifiers remains, that every team can play every team.
