My local team is Brann. Second in the league to Bodø/Glimt and cup winners last year which was a first honour in 20 years so, rather like Spurs, a club that builds character because you don't get many highs!
Norgesmester 2011. Cheers mate.
My last high in Norwegian football :D

Say what you want about Ajax but the crowd suddenly woke up with that penalty. Incredible noise

Bodø throws it away. Bodø would've had 10 goals here if they didn't have trampolines on their feet. The amount of amazing breaks and chances they've had and wasted has been insane.

And there's 2-2. I still make Glimt favourites on the astroturf up in the Arctic next week.

All of today's results. Some good coefficient news as no German or Spanish sides won.

We're still in second place on the coefficients table according to UEFA.

Italy still handily in first place which I'm struggling to understand. Did their teams absolutely ace the group stages or something?

16 games and 7 red cards? Refs on a crackdown?
At least some of it was just typical shitty European reffing. The Sparta Prague one was a pathetic bit of the ref evening things up by favouring the home team and making it 10v10. Was a ludicrous red.

All 7 Italian teams advanced from the group stage while two English sides went out.

Still bad news unfortunately, as no English teams played, so dropped back down to 3rd behind Germany and fell further behind Italy. Teams who qualified for next round instead of this extra round missing out on extra game points.

They are missing out on the points but the EL Group Stage winners have gotten 5 bonus points vs 2 for the sides that finished 2nd in the group which balances things out.

I've thought England would get into the top 2 by the end but I'm a little surprised they're already there.
Back to 3rd after last night as the German teams got 2 draws therefore 2 points.
doesn’t seem quite right that countries can pick up points from extra games in the play offs. Clubs are playing in these games because they were crap in the other comps and didn’t qualify. We have no teams in these playoffs because we won 6 groups. Newcastle and Man Utd have done us no favours not dropping down to the Europa..
If Bayern get bombed out that would kill the Germans off.
Having said all that if we get well ahead in 4th place I’m quite happy for England not to get an extra place.
Sod Villa and United.

UEFA don’t update straight away. Germany now 2nd after a couple of draws last night. kassiesa.net updates after each night of games.

Kassiesa.net is the only site I have used even before tracking the coefficient was something anyone cared about!

Right. But the 4 Italian clubs won fewer games than the English clubs (11 wins to 12). Are extra points awarded for qualifying or all just game by game?

EDIT: yes, you do get points for qualifying from the group. Jaysus, yanited and Newcastle have really put us in a hole.

With City, Liverpool and Villa all pretty much favourites in the three Euro comps I think we'll end up well inside top two unless the CL final is Inter v Bayern.

Either way, we're in second place for now.

The EL group winners got 5 bonus points (4 for winning group + 1 for advancing to round of 16) while the sides in the playoffs got 2 bonus points for finishing 2nd in their group (or zero for dropping out of the CL).

Overall the Italian sides have 24W, 14D, and 7L while the English sides have 30W, 6D, and 13L. The PL is behind Italy almost entirely due to the performances of Newcastle and Manchester United.

Yep. I decided to stop asking you people stupid questions and learned myself some knowledge.

Damn.

Thanks for the patience shown.

Bodø/Glimt currently losing to Ajax in the final minutes of extra time after a mad game with a red card for each team and a mad cross/shot likely winner for Ajax.

Really don't feel Ajax deserve to go through here but it is so typical for Norwegian sides in Europe to play well but lack cutting edge to finish off games. Glimt should've won this but Ajax have capitalised on the mistakes Glimt have made.
