Its a really low on quality tournament therefore you ideally want to avoid it.

But I do believe if you are in it you should be aiming to win it.

We either do one of 2 things.

Underestimate a team (Genk, Basel)

Or put out a weak team against serious opposition (Dortmund, Shakhtar)

I hope next time we make Europa and give it a real shot.

Only time we did was Jol when Sevilla cheated their way to beating us. Felt that was our year.
Agree. In my view, we should always try to win whatever competition we're in, no matter what it is.
Just look at how their players and fans were buzzing off tonight.

There's no way anyone can convince me that it counts for nothing and isn't worth the effort, just look how they all enjoyed themselves and how they'll remember this evening.

If we had won a few trophies during Poch/Mourinho era even Redknapp then I could understand it.

But how can any Spurs fan turn down a trophy like that and to win it like that. Its madness.

Levy hit the jackpot with some of our financially obsessed fanbase and top 4.

Yup, not gonna lie here but watching those scenes at the final whistle, I was bitterly jealous and I want some of that feeling here...and sharpish.

How? They were toilet.
They’ really weren’t, they had some good moments on the break and could have had a few more goals. I can’t see us beating that Fiorentina team the way we’ve been playing this season and we would have been delighted to get a win under pressure. Sorry but that’s just the stone cold truth, it’s not like we did well when we played in this cup.

Roughly 50% of the West Ham fans I know are great people so I guess I just don’t begrudge them their moment.

Again I said this last year and got a load of disagrees. I think it's a mentality thing but I'd cringe a little if I saw these celebrations for us for a 3rd tier competition that only existed to allow the really shit teams to play in Europe
But is it really any different than winning the UEFA Cup as we have twice. That also was the 3rd tier competition. We have to get over this idea that sone competitions are beneath us. If we’re in it we should want to win it or else what exactly is our purpose as a football club.

Well done to West Ham, good for them. Took it seriously and now they have European glory to celebrate.

All this result does is expose the utter travesty that has been 15 continuous years of Spurs throwing away winnable European tournaments. We could've won the Conference League in its inaugural season, we could've won the UEFA/Europa League if we'd taken it seriously. But no, played the kids, played the B team, always prioritised the league.

The same can be said for the domestic cups, which we've treated with utter contempt for years now.

We act like we're too big to win trophies. We must be the only football club on earth which actively tries to avoid winning certain tournaments. And it's everyone who's to blame. Managers - Poch in particular, players - who always seem totally indifferent, and of course ENIC and Levy, who have instituted such a culture of acceptance of failure in the club that it has become part of our "DNA" as COYS Daniel loves to say.

15 years of acceptance of failure, of resting on our laurels, of thinking we're too big and too clever to have to actually win things.

This win should have everyone associated with Spurs hanging their heads in shame.
Wish I could winner this more than once. Absolutely spot on👍.

Agree... and this is exactly why I'm glad we are not in Europe next season... it's not because it's the Conference L., Europa League or something... we simply don't deserve to be in any European competition. Not only because our season was crap but also because we don't turn up in cup tournaments anymore.

And maybe... just maybe... a little time away from Europe will change our view on tournaments that are not the Champions League... the club, the players and some fans need a reality check.

All cups should matter to us !

Does make me laugh how English pundits and media have mocked this trophy for years and now an English side wins it, all of a sudden it’s what every child should aspire to want to be in 🤷‍♀️

You can guarantee if we won it, that wouldn’t be the case.

Fair play to them, I don't know one West Ham fan so this will not impact me at all

Completely agree. After losing 3-0 away against that shit team with a manager in prison I gave up on this side.
They are incapable of winning away from home in cups etc.

Ok fair play, they won it. Good for them.

However I've just heard Alan Brazil pose the question "Have only Man City had a better season than West Ham?"

I'm glad there are still people out there who talk about how absolutely ridiculous the Sevilla tie was. Two of the worst refereeing performances I've ever seen.

Point blank, they've had a far better season than us. We're a club focused on financials solely, hence the top 4 obsession and disregarding pushing ourselves to the limit to win any cups.

The point of professional sport is to win, to win whatever you're in. It's the aim to be the best. To fill the trophy cabinet.

West Ham have just added a pot to theirs. We haven't won one in 15 years. Thus far, in the 21st century, for a club in our position (infrastructure, support base, income, etc.), we're an unsuccessful club, period.

A great stat from Opta says West Ham have become the first English team to win more games in a European competition than in the Premier League in a single season.

The club won 12 Europa Conference League games and 11 league matches this campaign.

If only they had beaten Spurs and they would have won their cup double 🤣

Fair do's to West Ham. I had the game on the iPad while watching Repair Shop and Sewing Bee (Yeah? And?) so didn't watch it properly.

From what I saw Fiorentina had a lot of the ball but never really threatened with it. I thought the penalty was a bit soft but laws of the game and all that. Someone said earlier yesterday that Fiorentina's weakness would be getting caught on the break (playing high line). It took West Ham 90 minutes to do it, but they got their rewards. Bastards.

We’ve just had a West Ham season.

They took it seriously, they put out proper sides against the most obscure of teams. We didn’t even put our best and fittest team out in a Champions League Final.

I’m on a stag do next week…

Eleven attendees are West Ham supporters.

I give it until shortly after take-off before I open the emergency door and nosedive back to Earth.
