Worst thing about AVB is he just spouts meaningless rhetoric. What does terms like 'they didn't let us play' even mean? Stating the obvious.

He needs to hold his hands up and also needs to concede the players were poor today. I want to hear some acknowledgement and some indication that he has recognises his style isn't working.

Also how has beating minnow European teams become a benchmark of success.

AVB STAY! Common people, we were forced into 2 changes and went down to 10 men, which definately contributed to why we were beat so badly. How can AVB be blamed for that?
We were only forced into one substitution. AVB can be blamed for playing Naughton out of position against one of the most potent attacks in the league. He is largely responsible for the injury crisis that forced him to choose between two bad options to begin with, having played our only LB at home against Tromso and being forced into playing our best CB in every f**king match because our only cover at the position was sent out on loan to QPR. He can also be blamed for being completely inflexible tactically and playing a suicidal high line with a Championship-caliber defense against this Liverpool side. I do agree that the factors you mention mitigate the result somewhat but AVB deserves plenty of blame.

thrashed by arsenal
thrashed by city
thrashed by liverpool
drawn with chelsea
drawn with utd
drawn with everton

can't beat anyone decent.
they feared us when we had bale, but we have no xfactor (at the moment). our players are playing football by numbers.

the worst part of it for me is results aside we are actually boring to watch.

If there ever was a sign of a stubborn manager refusing to change team selection and basic tactics this is a prime example. I have to cast my mind back to the Armstrong era to remember football that rubbish. I'm at a loss to understand the mans decision making. He's not stupid, far from it. Which means he must be digging his heels in and purposefully refusing to accept it's not happening. How. Far do you drag out a failing system before admitting defeat or changing tact?
AvB out? Not just yet, as it would probably mean capello, but please give another style of play a go. You know, one that involves defending and attacking.

I sometimes wonder if this rigid formation is a direction from the top - remember the plan as laid out last summer was to have every team at every level playing the "Tottenham" way. What the fuck that way is I personally haven't seen yet.

No but surely he has to be held responsible for us holding a high line with the defence we had available to us then persisting with that when we went down to 10 men. Seems he has no clue on how to adapt or change the team when things are not working. At least Harry told them to run around a bit when all else failed.

AVB has to go. Not because we lost but because if the manager cant even attempt to change what is happening on the pitch, he shouldn't be in charge of the club.
He did try to change things on the pitch, but when you're down to ten men and have a makeshift defence against this Liverpool team there's not a lot you could do.

I had always supported AVB, but I have been going to Spurs for 15 years and am not sure I have ever seen a home performance quite as abject as that, even when we had the likes of Michael Brown, Gary Doherty or Dean Richards starting. I have changed my mind on AVB, time for him to go. I can put up with poor performances if we are getting results, or indeed, poor results if we are playing well and improving. However, if we are honest, our PL performances have been average at best all year, we have struggled to beat the poor teams and have generally looked poor against the better sides. The team has pretty much fallen apart since the end of the first half at home to Chelsea. We are looking at another transitional season now, we are nowhere near any of the sides in the current top four and will probably finish about 6th or 7th. AVB out.

David Pleat, Former Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart LaneTottenham 0-5 Liverpool
"If Spurs beat West Ham the fans will be happy again. You know how fickle it is and sometimes you have to credit the opposition.

"It's a humiliating scoreline, an awful scoreline but the team in red played an excellent brand of football and Steven Gerrard must be sitting at home so proud of the players that compensated for his absence.

"You can get knee-jerk reactions but could any manager in England have put this one right, have turned this loss into a victory? Nonsense?

"Liverpool were better and the more Tottenham tried to force the pace... they were caught square and limp."

I don't disagree with the summing up but Liverpool finished 17 points behind Spurs the season AVB took over. SEVENTEEN fucking points.

Two questions:

Which team has progressed.

Which manager had 100 million at his disposal to improve the team.

Today is going to be a real cluster fuck.

It is going to get horribly messy I think.

I have lost al respect for BAE and ADE if that photo was taken after the match.
