I don't get this place sometimes, modric is the best centre midfielder in England one minute, so let's switch him to left wing, bale is the best left winger in the country, so let's put him at right back...

Come on guys, its a SQUAD game. Sandro when we play the top teams or when it needs tightening and hudd against the lesser sides, especially at home. Why is Lennon dropped by many in their 'fantasy' team and then has a good game and suddenly put back in. The guy is a great player and should start right wing. The way they lined up today 4-2-3-1 should be how we are next year with a decent striker

BAE showed today what he can create when he gets given space to get forward and put a cross in.

Midfeild 3 of any: VDV, Modric, Hudd, Sandro
depending if you want a more defencive or attacking team. Sandro wont get too many goals, Hudd will get a few during the season. VDV already shown he knows where the net is and giving Modric more freedom (in some game) to get forwards i can see him getting more goals.

Wide men of VDV, Bale or Lennon. Bale can score, and Lennon should be scoring more. But even if he doesn't produced a fair few assists most seasons.

Mr Pink. That is our best team IMO.

What you need to understand about that lineup is that we will have so much more possession of the ball which automatically means Bale would have to defend less.

When going forward, which when we have the majority of the possession will be most of the time, we will look like this:

Corluka Gallas Dawson
Thudd ...... Sandro
Lennon .............................. Bale
VDV ........ Modric

When we are defending, the inclusion of Sandro will help Bale defensively.

I'm still not completely convinced, particulraly with Ekotto coming out but I guess we'll see if Harry carries it out.

Definitely like this more, but for me a new RB, or possibly an improving Walker and a new striker.

But like that a lot. Imagibe a Drogba-esque forward in that, would love it.

Will you get back to pretending he has never had a good game at full-back, and isn't clearly being squeezed out of space now, by teams who realise the danger he represnents - as was predicted to you:roll:

Now, I will say again, seriously, I really, really do not think the team selection and formation you are suggesting would score enough goals. I broke it down for you, and the only answer I got, effectively, was 'would too' - which I took to be a bit of a bantery joke, hence my response. So, could you please explain to me just how you imagine that formation would score enough goals to have us challenging at the very top end of the EPL?

p.s. If yo go back through my posts you will see that I stressed over and over again that I thought Bale could be a great winger, but could develop into a truly immense full-back. That is hardly the same as saying he would be okay on the wing - or is that just another bit of airbrushing from history:shrug:

not the last line mate, correct decision! What a brill game .. bloody screwed our chances of CL but we went this season against the pikeyscum, and came away 4-1 winners on points!!!

For much of the game our main problem was the 3 v 2 in the centre of the midfield. Not keeping possession mant that Pav and Crouch were caught too often the wrong side of play watching our central two be bypassed by their three. Fortunately Arsenal don't really believe in themselves and ventually let us back in it. Lovely goal from VDV but that in itself gave Harry a problem because VDV in front of Corluka is an open invitation for an overlapping fullback. Sandro eventually came on and we mirrored their middle three. Pav was very poor tonight and in hindsight I'm sure Harry would have played 4 5 1 with a central midfield of Hudd Sandro and Modric. It is not over yet.

No you weren't. Despite being 3-1 down we got back to 3-3 with 20 mins left in the game. We had a few chances to win the game so for me it feels like 2 points dropped.

Yeh with the Arse playing their 2nd big game in 3 days...they were tiring and
its a shame one of our late chances didn't go our way..

But I'm suspending my normal hardnosed results orientated mindset though (for 24 hrs). I was watching this magnificent game with neutrals , its fair to say they were completely enthralled . Contender for best game of the season says the bbc..

..and I'm happy my club is involved in a spectacle of this quality .
