Tottenham urged to let Sanchez leave, ‘everything got worse’ since Conte took over

Over in Colombia, there is a lot of worry about the situation Davinson Sánchez is facing at Tottenham. The centre-back is no longer a regular starter for Spurs, where he has seen the likes of Cristian Romero take his starting spot under Antonio Conte after the player was signed from Atalanta.

The fact the Argentine also returned to Tottenham as a world champion, having contributed to his nation’s success, hasn’t helped the Colombian, who is now being drip fed minutes.

If it's Sanchez who thinks "everything got worse under Conte" then this probably explains why Tanganga (an inferior CB) started ahead of him against Leicester.

we should have sold Sanchez a long long time ago, good lad, physically amazing but he isn’t good enough on the ball, not good enough at defending.

As an old-fashioned centre half Sanchez doesn’t really suit our system, where more is required of the centrebacks in the attacking phase. We should have sold Sanchez when his value was high after the Copa America.
Nonetheless, he has been decent when he’s had a run in the team. Trouble is that cohesion is so important in defence. Any CB who comes in for the odd game here and there is not going to look great. Unless Conte rotates more regularly, as he has done with Davies and Lenglet on the left, whoever replaces Sanchez as second choice right centreback is also going to struggle.

Tanganga offers a lot more going forward, which is why I think he’s been preferred.

Get the feeling it's Sanchez who doesn't want to move more than the club holding onto him.
Wouldn't be surprised if he has an eye on running out his contract to keep his income up.
Those rumored with interest have been unlikely to pay him as well as we do.
Statistically, if you use fbref, he looks like a very solid defender - but we of course know he's error prone.

Neither Sanchez or Tanganga are up to it imo. However Tanganga helps with the homegrown quota so that may be why Sanchez is going.
That and everytime he's on the pitch Levy is reminded he spunked 40m up the wall.

He’s never really had a run in the team so it’s hard to say how good he could be in a settled defence. I’m not sure he’s any worse than a rusty Sanchez.
The Leicester performance (which was more of a team issue than a Tanganga issue) has probably tainted my opinion of him. After his first few games for us back in 2019(?), I had very high hopes for him.

Like any player they need a run of games to find rhythm and form. Sadly neither are going to get it unless Romero gets injured so it’s hard to say either are bad players. I agree I think tanganga offers more offensively and being home grown/club trained that makes him more valuable to the squad than Sanchez

Sanchez like Dier and the others need good partners alongside them. Romero makes everyone else better. Of course we know things have got worse under Conte, the defensive leaks goals and the attack is shackled. However Sanchez does need to move on as clearly none of the managers think he is good enough to be a regular starter.

It really does make sense for the last choice CB in our first team squad to be homegrown. Same goes for 3rd choice GK.

Yes, he also played alongside Porro who was MIA for most of the match.
