But I never said it was a majority, did I? I was responding to a post that was implying people were only against it now because the club was in a good place under Enic, I was pointing out this wasn’t the case. A post citing the result of a poll doesn’t really bare any relevance to that imo.
Maybe time to do another pole to see if there’s been a change of heart from the majority. Easy knee jerk when things looked so bleak.

I have to wonder for those who have a moral objection to it, whether they’d be the same if they themselves suddenly had a cheque for £10 million from the Qatari government land on their own door mat?

Would they send it back? 😂😂😂

Surely this is one of the biggest false equivalences posted on the Internet ever.

Of course, while stood on my doorstep loudly declaring to the world I was doing so and thus making it known I'm firmly on the moral high ground but also, poor!

Fat chance...... they'd be singing their praises. All I know is the landscape changed forever when Abromhavic bought Cheslea.....people are living in denial if they think we can compete any other way.

Wont be the fake sheikh anyway. Personally, I dont think Qatar have been interested in us for the best part of a decade.

It's rather a short term view as whilst things are not as bleak as before we still need investment and potentially a fresh approach.

I would guess the results would be similar.

We've been here before - and the consensus seems to be that we (meaning ENIC) always fail to take that last step to push a good team to greatness. And, so the idea of an owner with a bit more willingness to spend money would be welcome.

his face looks AI generated
There is only like 1 picture of this guy but with 40 different backgrounds. 95% chance it is AI. Not even the Glazers knew if this guy was legit & it got to the point of them directly engaging Nasser Al Khelaifi over the bid. I’m not sure who but I think someone out there was just pulling United’s legs this whole time & trolling the shit out of their fans. Waiting for the shoe to drop on who it was, really.

He’s never done one interview, he didn’t go to the stadium or training ground when invited. There’s only two photos of him. It’s been something that has bothered me from the start. It’s just felt a bit off. I am probably imagining it, but you never know nowadays.

This is what we do best. The issue is that we have never kept them when they become world class and continued to develop more world class players. As soon as we sell a Bale, Modric or a Kane we then find ourselves waiting time to develop a replacement. Our world class developed world class players are very much few and far between. It's asking a lot to develop all the time and have enough quality in depth. We still need to also be able to identify a clear quality player who will improve us immediately and spend the money. The squad now is like the early days under Poch, a lot of young talent and a very strong team. Once we're back in Europe we need a good deal more as the squad ultimately fell short under Poch and I think was the primary reason we didn't win anything. We've seen Arsenal spend 100m+ on a player developed by West Ham, Liverpool on a player developed by Brighton and yet we never really do it unless they're cheap enough due to contract length. That's the biggest difference for me. The best teams who win multiple titles are the ones who sign prime players at their best. The ones who typically fall short are the ones who develop those players to be sold to them.

If we can keep the scouting of high prospects going but also add the odd ready made player I think we'll take the next step. If we couldn't win things under Poch I'm not sure how likely it is we do it now. Maybe Ange will be a level above but then the competition is tougher now too compared to what it was under Poch. It's less and less realistic to win things without big spending.
We kept hold of world-class players and continued to develop more world-class players under Poch. At their peak under Poch, all of the following were world-class imo: Lloris, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Walker, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane (EDIT: + Dembele!). Of those eight players, Walker was sold and the other seven were retained for a significant period of time. Four (including Lloris who hasn't left yet) were retained until they declined and another (Son) still remains.

It's stating the obvious to say our recruitment wasn't good enough for about 3 years, but since then we have continued to develop more world-class players. Yes, we sold Kane last summer, but we retained him for a long time after he established himself as one of the top CFs in the world, and it's not like we signed dross last summer.
No-one can really argue with Romero and Bentancur's quality. Maddison, Bissouma, VDV & Vicario have been three of the best players in Europe in their respective positions so far this season. Other relatively young signings, such as Udogie, Porro, Sarr, Johnson, Kulusevski etc. have shown that they have really high potential. Our squad is now getting to a similar level of quality and depth that we had during our peak years under Poch. I think we're currently a couple of signings, and 1-2 years of experience together as a team, away from being a real force to be reckoned with.
