A decision to lease part of a park in north London to Tottenham Hotspur FC is to be challenged in court. A judge has granted permission for a judicial review of Enfield Council's decision to lease land at Whitewebbs Park to the club for 25 years.

The Premier League club wants to set up a women's football academy on the site of the park's former golf course.

Shame as you could walk through the golf club of an evening as all open and was a good walk.

Final day yesterday , be bit of a blow for the Spurs women if Enfield Council lose the case but it would save the club money in not having to build the pitches , renovate buildings and paying the lease fee etc.

Here is the the original desicion by Enfield Council on the tenders for the lease it looks like as can be seen in para 36 , Spurs were not the highest bidders in rental terms.
One of the arguments is that people walk their dogs on the old golf course . If the council lose this case and offer the lease to bidder C , a golf driving range would be built and a smaller golf course built so the loss to walkers and dog walkers would seem to be the same.
Bid E was withdrawn so just leaves the five bids.
The Guardian did a story on this casting Spurs as the villains but of course never mentioned the other bids.
