Sorry if I sound a bit miserable but there are way too many threads with "why didn't we buy this player" and "what if we bought that player" it just doesn't work that way!

We could have bought Suarez or Caroll or even both and could have still been sitting here saying Harry is spending £60m on 2 players that are worst than what we have. Yes they have done well at L'pool but you only need to look at Torres!!

I respect other peoples opininon on this and I do also feel that we should have bought Suarez but didn't think Caroll was worth £35m. I may well be proved wrong but Man City last night were crap and until Caroll and Suarez perform like that on a regular basis against teams that turn up, it's still too early to bemoan the fact we didn't buy them.

As good as Suarez might be at Liverpool, he isn't what we needed and Harry rightly didn't go for it. Carroll on the other hand is a player who would fitted like a glove, however I think the club were right to baulk at the price Newcastle wanted for a player with 6 months experience.

What if I started a thread asked "what if we all speculated that someone would what a "what if" thread?""?

Look how Torres and Dzeko have worked out since joining their clubs in January - I am glad we didn't just buy someone for the sake of pleasing a few fans. We need to make sure we get the right person in.

Totally agree..and that right striker if ever we could get him is Adebayor or Benzema.

Well I thought Suarez would have been the Keane of old. (minus the flapping of course)

Keane is as good as gone. Keane would never be able to play with VDV, who has to be in the team regardless of what some people are saying on here. VDV and Suarez wouldn't work, we need someone who would work well with VDV and can lead the line on his own. Not a support striker. Surely everyone can see that?

I know what would be the situation if we had not so many of those " one of those days" that we dropped points to the bottom clubs.

What if we had signed Joe Cole and passed over VDV!

I know what you mean but it is fear that we are losing ground. But the Sheiks have as they can just keep dropping millions until they get it right. The problem is that there are 1/2 a dozen Citeh players that just will never fit our our pay scale and therefore out of league for financial reasons. Fact is Liverpool sold Torres for silly money and spent it on too quality players.

If Danny had been able to get shot of 5 or 6 non essential players were would have had a similar war chest to buy either Carrol or Suarez.

My final comment which we have to come to terms with is:
Harry and Danny has to get some of these players in the shop window in order to get the value added required to balance the books while meanwhile winning every game. NOT EASY!

But that doesnt mean that if we had signed either, that they might have done well. There are so many variables in football you just dont know if things will work out. It is always a gamble.

We have gambled on many occassion. Bringing in Pav late in a window for example. He came from a foreign league for big bucks. Has he been worth the investment? Just. Also depends on what we get for him if we decide to part ways in the summer.

Fact of the matter is we had an ample amount of time to bring another striker. That didnt materialise for whatever reason.

Our forward line hasn't been good enough and this IMO will cost us 4th.

I just wish we took a gamble on somebody. Would he have made a diffence? We will never know.

But I would certainly prefered to have someone than not.

Danny might have been demanding silly money for our unwanted players; hence the inability to move them. He will in the end lose more on Bentley and Keane as the longer it drags on the less they'll fetch.

Are you suggesting that Danny is stubborn ?
