Love the reports over our lass getting silver in the triathlon, mostly for the fact they all clarify that "She got a puncture, during the cycling stage of the event...", as if we might've been worried her water-wings had deflated or something.

Finally seen the surfing final.

As hard as this sport is, I think this trial has shown that it might be unsuitable for Olympic competition... Purely because you're so dependant on the conditions. There's a steady swell coming in, but there's far too much white, the waves are breaking too early and are probably too strong to surf properly.

Much more fun to play if you're a beginner too. You can pick up a badminton racket and within 15mins have the absolute bare minimum down. Tennis takes ages to get to a point where you can have a decent rally with a similarly-skilled mate.

It had completely passed me by that the Olympics were on. And for the first time ever, I find I have no inclination to watch them. I watched a few minutes of the canoeing yesterday but that's all I've seen.

Does anyone have any idea when the cycling (velodrome) starts? If anything's going to get me watching it'll be that. I hope so, anyway- the Olympics have always been my favourite sporting event. Beats the hell out of football. It's actually bothering me that I seem to have completely lost all interest in sports.

I loved the Rio thread on here- it was buzzing and busy and a lot of fun. Maybe this one will pick up...

Athletics starts tomorrow. Session 1 starts at 1 am and Session 2 starts at 11 am.
