OK up and running again.

Posts about the Townsend transfer are one thing, but posts on his ability as a player are another, that's been done to death. I've banged on and on and on about the difference. Please don't make me do it again, because reluctantly, I do have a solution to that that will make my life VERY easy.

Killing Townsend? Seems a little excessive

FFS Levy, just pay the bill and bring 1st teamer CB. I don't want us to be 1 quality player short again, as always.

There seems to be a lot of faith that internal improvement and Pochettino alone will help us single-handedly close the gap with the likes of Arsenal, without any further attacking players being brought in. It's clear from the fact that we only scored 55 goals last season that end product was a major issue with this squad. Yes, Lamela will help up our goal tally, and I'm sure Pochettino's emphasis on tempo and the collective will help too, but all it takes is one poor attacking player to muck up promising goal scoring opportunities. I flat out don't confidence in Lennon or Townsend as starters, and while I think Chadli is a good player for rotation purposes, he doesn't have the type of pace we desperately need at the LWF position.

Someone should follow-up with JJ about Loic Remy. All we know is that he didn't want to move to Newcastle, and likely isn't going to go to one of the top 4 sides, either. That leaves Spurs as the logical destination for him. It'd be a move that would make sense as a loan, with Townsend going the other way. Remy would arguably be the faster player in the entire squad from day one, and unlike someone like Lennon, he can shoot with both feet, too. If you happen to bring in Schneiderlin, you'd have a group of French players who all played together on the national team, too.

I don't mind Townsend out. Townsend for 10m would be brilliant business for us IMO. I am not sure how much he could improve. But key aspect of this possible sale is, how well our academy & Youth development is program doing. We are not producing world class talents, but producing decent PL level footballers.

After Caulker & Livermore, guess he is next one to be sold at reasonable price. The 45m spent on facilities already recouped more or less.

This season we have Kane, Bentaleb, Mason in squad now. Really feel happy with this aspect of progression.

let's be honest here, very few of us know anything about memphis depay. everyone just presumes he's the next big thing when really he could just as likely end up being the next ryan babel, roysten drenthe or eljero elia. i can see the appeal of cashing in on andros if a good offer comes in but i'd rather he was given a year with poch before doing anything hasty.

That's one side of the argument, then again he could be the next Arjen Robben or Robin Van Persie, there's always an element of risk in buying players of potential, come to that there's always an element of risk buying more proven players

For me the starting point is do you think the present option is up to the job, looking at Andros for me the answer is no. Once you decide if the player you have isn't suited then you look at the options. Depay wouldn't be my first option but I do think there's a player there, certainly far more than I see in Townsend, he's a player that actually plays with his head up not down, seems far more aware of the options around him and actually looks like he tries to link up with the team.
He's not the finished product for sure and there are other options I'd prefer but if it was a simple choice Townsend or Depay then I'd opt for Depay, the only argument against it would be if we already had our quota of foreign players but given his age and the timing factor that really wouldn't be an issue this or next season I believe depending on what cut out date they choose

Didn't he fail a medical though at Liverpool. Hardly worth the risk considering we've been pretty much plagued with injured players since I can remember.

Why not let the people who watch and coach our players every day decide who we should let go and keep .

Well to be fair it's not as if he has been watching them for that many days so far, it might be more pertinent once he has had longer to do it

You can lead a horse to water but you can't get it to drink. Unfortunately there are mules everywhere (no offense @Donki )

In response to a similar comment a late colleague of mine said " no, but you can hold it's head under water until it has to breathe!". Still makes me laugh.

I'm a bit worried that we are making too many changes again...
Vorm- back-up
Yedlin- not even with us
Musacchio- Essential starter- we need a good CB
Dier- back-up
Davies- We bloody needed a LB
Schneiderlin- Poch sees as essential to his system...

It seems to be 'common knowledge' that Pochettino sees Schneiderlin as 'essential to his system'. But has he said this? I've seen no quotes from him about this. Where does this information come from?
