I wouldn't be surprised, I think we've left it too late on the DM front now. It's a key position in so many teams, and one which is very difficult to recruit at any level of quality. Teams aren't likely to be letting their quality specialist DM's going when their seasons have already started and they have no time to find replacements.

The only realistic purchases left in that position are Stambouli-types, and Poch has made it clear he's not interested in more of those.

Berahino is the most likely but I wouldn't be at all surprised at a winger/WF as well though.

Irritating, as the DM position is utterly vital to everything we do, and though I love Dier to bits, to have him as the only remaining option smacks rather of incompetence at a fairly high level.

Agree with this and update #176 from the goat doesn't fill me with confidence on the DM front

Maybe because WBA's replacement wasn't in yet. Rondon.

Although it's strange. Rondon won't be able to play on Monday and if Berahino is about to move, then he might not either. So they will be left with Gnabry and Lambert? Ah maybe that Ideye chap. Plus it's Man City and they are likely to lose anyway.
that's more striking prowess than we have had for 2 seasons

Maybe the 'part of the medical' was a part that he could do at his local doctors/hospital. Not at all sure what's involved in a medical but I'm guessing that his local quack could tick some of the boxes without him travelling to London?

Hmm it is interesting that he only did part of a medical, as it seems to suggest that something has occurred to put a halt to the transfer for a while. I wonder what the cause is?

WBA finding a replacement? If so we should hopefully see some movement soon.

Agreeing a fee? Seems unlikely if he was given permission for a medical.

Berahino wanting to wait to see who else is interested? That would be a shame but not beyond the realms of possibility.

Interesting...

I think it's more that medicals are a bit more complex than simply the bit televised and as well as CPEX they often involve other parts like scans.

But it is odd that some of it was done and he hasn't signed 'officially' - so your theories could all be true!

I think given the ITK that he's been down to WHL, and the fact that athlete medicals are specialist examinations it's not likely a local Doc could do it. Tottenham Hotspur will rely massively on the results so would only want a team they trust involved (cf. Radwan Hamed).

I know a guy in Wembley who can get anything... probably a medical pass as well.

Medical comes in two parts The comprehensive technical part involving scans and medical history etc, and also the physical where we'd look at his stamina and mobility. If he has visited our training ground there is is no reason he couldn't have completed the physical section of the medical while he was there. The first part usually entails his medical history being released from his current club and would be done at a medical facility not at the training ground which you would assume would be the part not yet done. Making sure he is fit with no mobility issues would be enough for us to push on with imo.

Didn't berahino play in a friendly last week? Seems odd that he would do part of the medical then play in a friendly. No I'm not knocking goats info before anyone says anything.

The first part of the medical will look at long term physiology

The second part will look at short term conditions

He is still WBA's player till the deal is complete, they can do what they like with him

I don't mean to poo poo on anyone's parade but I went to the game today and one 'educated' gent said the only likely business was Saido as an incoming. Germans unlikely. Only Ade and Lennon out.
I'd be ok with that
I got a record 10 disagrees when I said my guess is just one more in this window and that will be Berahino!

All the ITK makes it sound like we've had a deal with WBA and with Berahino in place for some time, but were just waiting on them to bring in replacements.

Looks like Gnabry and Rondon should be that.

Wasn't there ITK last week that said Berahino wants to come, but that his agent is holding out for offers from bigger teams? we could have agreed a deal, had first part of medical, then the agent had second thoughts

Plus if Berahino played in friendly it shows good attitude, none of this "my head isn't right to play" shit or "cant play boss, my hamstring feels tight", shows he is professional

Maybe we was ready to sign Berahino and all of a sudden someone's transfer out didn't go through (Ade) and we have delayed the second part of the medical?

Good news. As soon as they announce their signing we should be able to move swiftly to tie up Berahino now. Expect things to really get going on this tomorrow.
