So IF we get just the 1 striker as Villas-Boas is indicating then that means we are one injury away from having a strikeforce of 1 untried youth player and 1 senior striker who is not suited to our managers prefered formation...

But I thought Defoe looked better today than in a 4-4-2.

Tell me, is it good business to sign the likes of Llorente or Leandro, who have never experienced a league remotely like the PL, pitch them straight in (assuming we can even pull those deals off), with no pre season or understanding of our style of play, and expect us to have a better season than if we'd concluded our dealings weeks ago, had the whole squad together for 4/5 weeks, and stood a fighting chance of not playing catch up after 3/4 games?

I couldn't give a flying fuck wether Levy ets his 'Klinsmann', or shaves a couple of hundred thousand off the price of a target that we stand little or no chance of signing.

We do this every window!!!! Go after big targets, that the likes of Bayern, Real, PSG, City etc would all snap up in a micro second, and think that we have a chance???

We have neither: the money, the prestige, CL football, of the draw to get these kind of players. Face facts people.

Because of our apparent ditherings (yes, it's an uneducated guess on my part) we have missed out on the likes of Cisse, Jelevic, Podolski, Giroud, etc.

Honestly tell me that these player are A. Not good enough for us, B. too expensive, C. Above our station, D. Or unattainable?

Yes I'm venting, because I've got zero control over what, IMO, had prevented us, over the last few seasons, from striking while the iron was hot and fully establishing ourselves as a genuine CL side at the expensense of either Chelsea or Arsenal.

AVB has said he is waiting for Modric sale so that he can go buy a striker.

As I said during the week, i think we have used up all our transfer kitty on Siggurdson and Vertonghen. AVB has just proved that. We can compete and not signing a striker is affecting us again

i may have missed a post about it, but what are people's thoughts on the omission of Hudd and Daws.

I think they are both of, and AVB has decided to keep Jenas and livermore as back up for Sandro and A.N. Other.

Daws had a death in the family and Thud wasn't considered match fit yet.

correct me if im wrong, but didnt i read somewhere today that inter wasent selling leandro? if thats the case no yellow now or duty free, pretty gutted if true another poster suggested we will only get ade, well i think he is right unfortunetly

Um, Podolski's not good enough for any team besides Cologne. Giroud missed a shot from pretty much inside the 6 yard box today.

Also, our lack of a striker/mod replacement isn't why we lost today. We lost because of a great strike by Ba and a bad penalty given up by Lennon/VdV. Completely outplayed the Toon and deserved points.

If we have any sense we will buy 1 out and out striker and an inside forward/striker who can play on the wing e.g Remy/Hulk then we can rotate players and keep them happy.

Oh dear, i've just got back and i'm got up to speed on any transfer rumours, really hope that's not the case. Imo Leandro would be ideal
