Because I think, injuries aside, he’s still very much dining out on one good night at the Bernabeu.

Not saying I actively want him gone, but I wouldn’t care if he left.

Could not disagree more with this, I actually think we miss Winks as much as Kane. Not saying he's at the same level obviously but we don't have anyone else who does what he does, he has become a massively important player for us. He was outstanding at the Bernabeu but that was not a one off by any stretch. The injuries are obviously concerning but he'd still be in my top 5 or 6 players to do everything we can to keep hold of. He's also Tottenham through and through which helps.

Really are limping to the finish line this season and just hope we are ruthless in the summer in terms of getting rid of players. Bored of seeing players who are clearly not up to the required standard getting so many games at us. Likes of Trippier, Aurier, Davies, Janssen remind me of the type of crap we used to buy in the 90s/early noughties. Don't think Dier is up to much in midfield either and no doubt it was Dembele who was making him look good. Poch has done as much as he can with these players but they are simply not up to it.

We are not going to solve our issues in one window and in the next window or two after the summer, we need to be on the lookout for a new keeper and a LB.

This is a big summer for us and if Levy messes about and doesn't back Poch and instead shafts him with more cheap crap he doesn't want, Poch walks imo.

Absolutely.

He's arguably been one of our top performers this season and most certainly in the CL. He's fucking excelled.

Saying he's still dining out after that match in the Bernabeu is bullshit of the highest order.

Troll like bullshit I can smell.

We miss winks. But, sadly, I am not sure we can rely on Winks. And that becomes a problem.

Winks when fit is one of the first names on the sheet for me. He now needs a good summer off to try to sort out all these little niggling injuries out and put them to bed once and for all...hopefully. Football is essentially a simple game, if you have the ball they can’t score..in most cases..in my opinion winks is our one player who actually appreciates this and treasures the ball and doesn’t give it away cheaply...something sorely lacking in most English midfielders..

Hate to say it but aside from Kane, Eriksen, our center backs, Son, Winks and ironically Sissoko - nobody in this team should be off limits. We need improvement and while we have quality in the squad, it’s clear there is something missing and it may require a change of style.

100% spot on. Winks is a really quite fantastic player and he’s proved that in big games numerous times especially in the CL. We have no one else like him. The sad thing is it looks like he will have a career hampered by injuries which will need managing which will stop him from going right to the top with us because if he was fit and healthy playing 38 games a year for a few seasons in a row with us under Poch I think he’d end up as one of the best ball playing CM’s in the world.

Criminally underrated. Love the guy but having played football to a decent level myself and also having had ongoing ankle and other injuries i can completely appreciate how these things effect your performances and career and so it will be effecting him 10x even more than it did for me :(

Don’t know the exact details but really hope this groin op works and that his ankle doesn’t have too much serious long germ damage which is debilitating his performances and or causing pain because he is so so key for us.

This is not aimed at JJ! But! We have been in CL for 4 seasons. With the way we conduct our business we couldn’t attract a fly to shit then, because of the way we operate. So though I have been hearing the same I am not enthused even if we win CL, or got to final, and remarkably still made top 4.
Surely what JJ is referring to is finance strategy related rather than our ability to attract players and that is quite obvious anyway as now the stadium is up and running the financial operating model switches as we will have income from season tickets and hospitality etc which will go towards the credibility of playing back our loans, the difference then in CL qualification money vs not and winning the CL vs semi finals could/should both reasonably impact our transfer kitty.

For anyone who can, check out the fighting cock podcast as there is a 1hr episode with a financial analysts which breaks down what our transfer kitty is and how each element of our performance etc relates to this.

I’m pretty slow. Can you talk me through how the words they said lead you to that conclusion ?

If you as slow AS YOU say you are what is the point. Draw your own conclusions if you wish. I've drawn mine. No proper nvestment in the squad for 4 windows (barring Sissoko & Sanchez) having a player investment strategy this season which depends on which competition you in.

Is anyone expecting anything different this window than the usual crap Levy tactics of asking crazy selling prices for our deadwood and then when there are no buyers refusing to release funds for purchases made worse by torturing us with ITK being fed club propaganda telling us how we tried for A, B or C but Barca came along or the selling club doubled the price at the last minute ?

Spurs in transfer windows are like Groundhog Day.

"JJ on twitter today saying the club aren't actively working on deals (as you're not allowed to outside of the TW) but have picked out their targets and who they're looking to offload. Doesn't that seem pretty foolish and something that other clubs do? I mean Real Madrid are actively working on."

This is exactly what is p*ssing me off with Levy and whoever is involved in our transfer activity. No wonder we don't sign anyone these days, they are clueless.

- We don't deal with super agents.
- We don't deal with Arsenal, West Ham or Chelsea.
- We don't talk to anyone regarding transfers unless the window is open and even then probably not until right at the end.
- We want an absolute bargain for every purchase we make.
- We want to make that bargain purchase in tiny installments over 5 yrs.
- We want to pay the player way less than he can get elsewhere on a 5 yr year deal with an option of 1 more yr.

The above is why we don't get anything done. Until this behaviour stops, don't expect major changes.

Our whole transfer strategy worked quite well a few years ago and got us to where we are. It no longer works in this transfer market - player fee's and agent fees have gone mental and Levy has no no idea how to deal with it. Theres so much money in football now that lower teams don't need to sell their players so you only get them if pay good money. He is more than happy to demand exorbitant fees for our dross, but has no intention of paying the going price for the players we want. This squad needs gutting and rebuilding, but I'd bet good money we'll be watching Trippier, Dier, and Wanyama waddle around again next season.
