Yeah 9 players coming in during one window sounds realistic...
We've signed 7 before (I know, that one worked out brilliantly), but if we were to lose Eriksen and Toby, as well as losing Dembele in January, we already need to sign three players to replace them. And that's not to mention sorting out our full-back and midfield issues. We need to make up for lost time over the past 2/3 windows, when our rivals have bolstered their squads (particularly Liverpool).
I'm not expecting us to sign 11 (three of which would be on bosmans), but I do believe we require serious work in certain areas of the pitch (full-back and midfield IMO).
I’d also argue that baring Davies and Dier, all the other outgoings I suggested are ones we expect to varying degrees. So that’s 11 out.
Perhaps it is too much change, but inactivity in previous windows plus the potential departures of two of our top players (as well as Dembele in January), does mean that substantial changes will happen this summer - for better or worse.
Over the past two seasons, we’ve spent $138m, Liverpool $320m, Man City $459m, Man Utd $320m, Arsenal $210m, and Chelsea $470m.
(According to transfermarkt.com)
Like I said, we need serious catching up.
