None at all. Just an opinion. Well done SA for winning it. Why would there be sour grapes? I'm not from NZ and didn't think England were anywhere near good enough.
For me..... A team that triumphed over France on their home turf, Beat England and The All Blacks certainly stands out as the BEST in the world. The World rankings also suggest that they Best in the world. The loss to Ireland was down to wayward kicking from the Flyhalf Libbok.

Who else would you want them to beat to be considered the best.

I don't take anything from SA's win. The team that wins it is the team that deserves it.

But when they can play like France, Ireland or the AB's, i.e. complete rugby. That includes all facets of the game. Then for me personally. They aren't the best. A tactical side that relies on power and edge of the seat rules. Reliant on Kolbe pace and direct running.

Hypothetically speaking. If England had hung on to win. I think they'd have played a similar game and had a good chance, based on last night poor game,.of beating them.

I'd be saying the same thing about them.

This is from someone who likes forwards rugby too.

I was bound to provoke a response and I get it. But I'm not alone in this thought process. Not outside SC anyway.

Doesn't mean I wouldnt be celebrating a win though. Enjoy the glory! Well deserved.

That's the Springboks brand of rugby... but I understand what you saying. It works in some settings and doesn't in others. Of their games at the World Cup of found the game against France to the best...end to end stuff... but from there they just hung on.

Any way as a rugby nation we play to our strengths and its yielded excellent results. Rassie Erasmus has been the difference over the last 5.5yrs.

My take is that it's difficult to argue that SA are not the best, since they won. But they're not the team I would most like to watch.

That’s another thing that stands out for me in our win last night. We dominated in no facet of play like we often do, like the scrums. The scrum didn’t move, we lost a lot of lineout ball. Kolbe and Arendse didn’t run as much as they usually would. The ABs were good under the high ball. We had zero dominance in any facet, no tactical nous gave us an edge, and yet we pulled it off. Says a lot that we were still able to win. That’s a sign of a good team in my opinion.

You aren't a good team. You're an excellent one. That other teams struggle to work out. Physical prowess plays a huge part.

That’s a fair take, but we also did plenty of running against France. On a dry day, outside of a final, we usually do a lot of running with the ball. Finals are usually cagey affairs and boring, not just in rugby but probably every sport.

In a final, in wet conditions, with tired legs, I totally get why we played the way that we did.

Our physical prowess wasn’t there last night. We defended well except for that one try that NZ got from a lucky bounce. Our defence is largely what got us through

Eddie Jones has gone. Off to Japan?

Hopefully that's the last of the odious man.
Australia were shocking. Their rugby seems to be in a very bad place. I’m not sure if it’s all due to Eddy cause they were performing very poorly before him too. But he didn’t contribute any positives so it’s no surprise that he’s gone.

Definately. Some of the tackling was relentless by SA. Against 14 I felt you didn't capitalise on any of the gaps or overlaps available though.

I think SAs physicality is always there. Just by sheer power in some of those players.

Agree but like you say, he did nothing to help improve it. When you look at the state of the England set up toward the end of his tenure, there's a common denominator.

Yeah. That was the most disappointing aspect for all of us who watched the game together, that we didn’t capitalize on them going a man down. When that happened our play actually dropped and NZ actually played better. I told the people watching with me that I hope we don’t become relaxed now that they went a man down and immediately after that we got sloppy.

Don't think there can be any debate that SA are currently the best in the world.

I certainly get the argument that they aren't fun to watch for the neutral, but they are devastatingly impactful in how the implement their game plan.

Also peaking in the right games is a huge part of being the best in the world.

Ireland beat SA handily in the group stages...but they then didn't bring it in the quarter final. Whereas SA stepped up a gear.

They definitely weren't at their best last night or in the semi-final...but they got their margins right at the right time and really that's what makes great teams.
