Poor decisions from the ref imo not sure sinckler brought down the scrum ie touched knee down, why would vunipola drag the scrum down and lawes did roll away french ref made some ok calls but towards the end found for SA even though the lions had momentum.

Disappointing result.

Disappointing series to be honest both in terms of Lions results and quality of rugby.

The Boks are impressively good at that style though.

A shame the series will be remembered for Rassie’s antics, a poor standard of rugby, a poor standard or reffing and probably Covid.

It wasnt great although there are so many circumstances to that, no fans and really S Africa hadnt had a run out in ages.

On a separate note, rugby is way too complicated and too technical ie the rules that is. I am not an expert but played at school and do like rugby but its getting to be a pretty boring sport with the stop starts and technicalities of penalties and rules etc

They need to remove the incessant tmo checks particularly for foul play maybe take a leaf from league and use citations more and keep the game flowing. The scrum they have already seemingly allowed feeding the scrum not sure when that was decided it is difficult since union needs to keep its unique features over league blurring it to much is t a good thing imo.

Disappointing series really. Gatland never had a settled team, especially in the back line and made a few bizarre selections (nothing new there). Our chance was in the 2nd test but he blew that with subs that went horribly wrong IMO. 3rd test was a shit or bust affair which could have gone either way I guess. Overall, just a bit meh.

Hmm. Good team. Not quite right though.

Planet Rugby’s greatest Lions XV: JPR Williams; Tony O’Reilly, Jeremy Guscott, Mike Gibson, JJ Williams; Barry John, Gareth Edwards; Ian Maclauchlan, Keith Wood, Graham Price, Willie John McBride, Gordon Brown, Mike Teague, Richard Hill and Mervyn Davies.

I’m surprised they named Graham Henry as coach.

If you are missing some sport to watch this weekend. Last nights game between harlequins and bristol was really entertaining. Try and find a replay.

As a Quins fan I can't support their decision to start most games from about 20 points down, but it does make for some superb rugby.

Our back three of Green, Lynagh and Murley are just amazing at the moment and obviously Marcus Smith continues to be incredible.

Also if Dombrandt isn't in the England reckoning then I don't know who else would be.

To face Australia on Saturday. Good to see Smith starting.

England: Steward; Tuilagi, Slade, Farrell (capt) May; Smith, Youngs; Genge, George, Sinckler, Itoje, Hill, Lawes, Underhill, Curry.

Replacements: Blamire, Rodd, Stuart, Ewels, Dombrandt, Simmonds, Quirke, Malins.

I suppose it's an experimental lineup but I don't really get shoehorning Farrell in at centre to accomodate Smith and then shunting Slade out to the wing to accomodate Farrell.

Agreed. Whilst it was 'only' Tonga, Slade was quality last weekend so moving him out to the wing seems odd.

Other than that it looks a very dangerous attacking team with an extremely mobile pack.

Cue a deadly dull kicking-based performance and we then don't see Smith for 3 years.

Actually Tuilagi on the wing, but I agree with your point. Tough on Radwan, too.
