The race for the title

I think the FA cup game will have massive implications on the mentality of either club in the title race, knocking Chelsea out of that and they only have two days rest until they play Southampton in the league, that will be massive for us.

Also, it's probably the one time them playing BEFORE us will benefit us, just heard Neville talking about how playing second is a disadvantage and normally I would agree but after a London derby FA cup between two clubs who are 1st and 2nd and us being the fitter and younger set of players, combined with us getting an extra days rest before a league game? I think that only benefits us.

I think if we beat Chelsea in the FA cup they will drop points against Southampton and Everton, I know some might think that is wishful thinking but confidence in sport is everything, imagine the heartbreak they will suffer with us dumping them out of the cup and the tiredness running through their legs after playing a fitter hungrier team than them.

Defeat in a big game can galvanise a side though.

I'm going to try and forget about the league now for a week. FA Cup is all that matters next weekend

So, closer to Chelsea than anyone else is to us.
It's still tough but chelsea and especially Conte celebrated winning the league when they beat Stoke with a late goal and were thirteen points ahead of us.
To quote Sean Connery in the Untouchables, "How do you think he feels now, better or worse?:)

I'd hate to be the hunted in a title race, they must be going through so many emotions lol

We've got nothing to lose, all we can do is keep winning and enjoy the run in!

Would sort of be Spursy (in a different way) if we were able to overtake Chelsea to win the title on goal difference (my dream), and win the FA Cup final against Arsenal (penalty shoot out of course) All in the final season at WHL. If Carlsberg did Karma :D:chicken:

The next couple weeks are absolutely vital to deciding the league. There is a slight chance that the next 2 games after the semi final for Chelsea could potentially see them dropping around 2 - 4 points. If they do and we continue winning (and nothing less), then we are in with a good chance.

However, having said that, our run in is a lot more difficult than theirs. We play 3 derbies (CP, Arsenal and West Ham), then United(H) and Leicester; with Arsenal, United and Leicester being the most challenging. On paper we could potentially win all of those games given our current form but in reality it's a tough ask. It all comes down to the week after the Semi final. We must capitalize on our form and win every single one of those derby games. With such slim margins, that is our only chance.

In all, the title will be decided a lot sooner than many think. I have a feeling we'll know by the end of this month.

This is all nice but......both teams are going to drop points at some point so whilst its all fun and jolly japes right now, lets try not to start going off the top with the ritual ****ing off the manager/players if they don't match up to your expectations and we don't win the thing.

It isn't them doing it to you, its yourselves.

Having dispensed those little nuggets of wisdom, I must admit my cock twitched at the thought of us winning it.

Perhaps all those people who reasoned that our relatively low-key start to the season was down to Poch wanting us to peak later in the season were right. We're on hot form right now and buzzing whereas Chelsea are stumbling. Maybe Conte's rigour and their lack of depth has combined to come back and hurt them.

Only Kante put in a decent show today and he was bossed by the midfield trio of United. Key players like Azpilicueta, Pedro, Moses and Matic looked knackered and out of focus. Costa's been shite for months tbh. Could things unravel on Saturday....?

I think the players have to see it as win every game to win the title now. If we do that there's a good chance we might just nick it.

Surely there aren't any healthy adults who think we can win every game left right?

Chelsea can afford to drop 4 more points because we will also drop more.

However - for all the talk of a Mourinho Masterclass™ the thing that shocked me most about today was that, for the first time all season, Chelsea looked tired, nervous, frustrated and out of ideas. Dare I say it, just like us at the end of last season.

I think it's highly likely they will drop points again. But looking at our remaining games I still think we're more likely to discover alien life this season than win every game that will be required to capitalise.

Chavs last game is against sunderland, if we're still in the hunt by then you just know Defoe will be going balls out to help us win, assuming Sunderland have been relegated by then.
