In today's press conference Poch gave below quote on our title challenge.

"We have to be ready. It is up to us. All that we can do is be there if the possibility exists. If not, okay. But if Chelsea drop their performance and their results, we need to be ready to take their place.

That is one lesson we learned from last season. It is about us. If Chelsea lose, we need to make sure not another team takes our place. Now we are second, we need to keep that."

Message is so simple here. It underlines clearly whats our ambition is for this season & hopefully every player understands & believe that we can do it.

He is right of course all we can do is keep the gap between us to a minimum and hope there is a slip up on their behalf.
It would be ironic if the turning point was costas penalty miss at Liverpool just as Gerrards slip proved costly for them.
Really can't see Chelsea blowing it and feel we are playing for second but if we could close it down to a couple of points you just never know.

The Gerrard slip, while like 4 years old already, will never stop being as funny as it was when it first happened. Legitimately one of the greatest PL moments ever:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That being said, there is no way Costa's penalty miss will be their unraveling. But can Chelsea please provide me one of those Gerrard slip moments this year? I am begging.

That's the Straw I'm clutching at and I refuse to let go.

I'm supporting Arsenal tomorrow

Honestly I'd rather a draw. The only shot we have at the title is if Chelsea have a spectacular collapse - in which case them getting one point isn't likely to make too much of a difference. But two extra points for Arsenal could end up with them finishing above us yet again, prolonging the pressure of that curse for another year and potentially denying us Champions League football for next season. Doesn't seem worthwhile. Plus it's never nice to watch either of those sets of supporters going home happy!

at the end of the day and as many have said already, it is Chelsea's to lose, and if they are to lose it, we need to have a good winning streak start again.

the thing is Chelsea still have 7 away fixtures, WHU & Bournemouth on paper being their easiest, but depends on what Bournemouth show up, and being a London derby a game spam usually turn up who knows.

Chelsea have:

Burnley away, definitely not the easiest place to visit, though we have to go there too.
WHU away, it's a London derby, same again we still have to go there
Stoke away, they have improved big time since we played them, now top 10 not bottom 3
Bournemouth, playing badly of late, but their best results this season at home have been teams in the to 4
Man U away, definitely not the easiest place to visit at anytime
Everton, another ground that not many teams have taken full points away from. only Liverpool have taken all 3pts from Goodison this season.
WBA definitely having their best PL season, and never easy place to visit for the teams doing well, Pulis sets out to frustrate.

they are not easy away fixtures, and 5 of those teams are in the top 10, we as it stands also have 7 away still to play and only 2 of them are in the top 10

ok they have 8 home games, only 2 of those I don't expect them to pick up max points in, but Arse and Man C are definitely not shoe in's to win. they only have to face 2 teams at home in their remaining 8 that are in the top 10, we have 4 in our 8.

we have suffered so many injuries, they haven't, yet Alonso has been playing on with a knock for sometime, them suffer an injury to Costa, Hazard, or Kante, or any lengthy suspensions, and they can still be caught, it's just going to be bloody hard to do, but definitely not impossible.

I prefer to look forward instead of worry about what's going on behind. I want Chelsea to lose as I want to win the league, yea coming second is an achievement but I want us to win. Looks irrelevant right now anyway as Chelsea look like they will grind this out.

Believe me now????

I am not a negative fan as people thought... but the title is done, dusted - give it to them now!
We just must hang on for top 4

Title over with this win for Chelsea. Now a matter of trying to come top 4 and win one of the cups. That will be the balancing act for Poch from here on.

Given that I've repeatedly said that I don't think we're in a title race (and that that's nothing to be ashamed of), I'm fairly happy with this result if it stays as is. What I really, really want is to finish above Arsenal, and this helps us in that goal.

Our goals:

Finish above Arsenal and lay those demons to rest.
Win the FA cup
Finish 2nd

Can't see Chelsea slipping up tbh.

Arsenal have been murdered today!

If the second placed team was never in the title race, who was??

I think many spurs fans are used to middle table or 5th places are afraid of the first places. You need to change that defeatist attitude

Yeah it's over, call me defeatist all you want but if you think Chelsea are going to drop 12 points after the record they have against the lower teams at the start of the season you are living in a dream world.

We can take solace in the fact we made them look average when we played them though and Arsenal look average in comparison to them, this is why it is so important to have a good start in the league, we drew too many games, Chelsea shot out of the blocks flying and now are essentially home and dry.

Our focus now needs to be finishing as high as possible and not lose focus just because winning the league seems out of our grasp, I hope that doesn't make the players less motivated.

We need to focus on trying to win a trophy in the EL or FA Cup and finishing as high as possible in the PL.

If we finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th and win a trophy that would be a fantastic season for us as far as I am concerned.

The main thing is we don't lose motivation and down tools because if we do we could find ourselves out of the top four and with no chance of a trophy, I don't want a repeat of what happened after the Chelsea game last season.

No one is in the race. Chelsea made sure of that with 13 straight wins. Fair play to them.

We need to win something this year. Top 4 and FA cup has to be the minimum requirement.

Christ if we finish below Arse this season we'll never get above them. They were shite today. Weak.
Regarding title you don't give up with this many games left.
Yes its very unlikely Chelski will blow it but we've seen unlikely before.
Just need to stop talking about it, forget about others and concentrate on ourselves picking up as many points as possible.

Hope that third comedy goal knocks the stuffing out of Arsenal and demotivates them for their next few games. (y)
